I work for a government agency. Up until now I could carry any handgun. I worked a lot in Europe so carried a 9mm. I carried a Glock 19, CZ-75B and a Kahr and sometimes a Sig. I shot the Glock and CZ the best. I can conceal all of them well though, obviously the smaller the handgun the easier to conceal.

Now the regulations are changing and we have to specify what handgun we will carry (9mm still). I am torn between the Glock and the CZ. Before these guns I carried a .45 C/L so am familiar with that mode of carry hence my like for the CZ. Lately reading the threads I have noticed some people had problems with their CZs though I have not with appx 5500 rounds through it.

So, given the choices, I am wondering your opinions. The Glock or CZ... I know they are different but wonder about reliability issues of both as well as overall effectiveness in combat shooting.......

Thanks and look forward to your thoughts

For me it'd be the Glock 19.

More comforatble to carry, similar capacity, similar accuracy, easier maintenance and more durable finish.

Good luck

I'd be comfortable trusting my life to either weapon. Personally, I'd go with the G19, for lighter weight when carrying and a slightly smaller overall length and height.

Both are great!

I don't think you could go wrong with either the Glock or the CZ. Both have +'s and -'s though.

Have you considered purchasing a CZ P-01? That might be just the ticket you are looking for. Smaller, lighter, and easier to carry then the 75b.

Hey buddy...hows it going over there???????????????

Both are stellar carries.....just for different situations. Id carry the CZ if I had to only have 1 gun....I just shoot them better.

The PCR would do you better than the PO1....same gun with a more carry friendly frame/slide. Ive carried them both and unless you want people to mistake that bulge of your concealed M6 light for something else :neener:

The PCR is better suited for what you want.......just dont forget the HI Caps.......

WATCH YOUR SIX............SHOOT WELL

Man seven posts in and I'm the first to welcome you aboard.

WELCOME

I have very little exp. with the CZ's but what I have "seen" I liked. So I would default to the Glock. Both are fine guns.
Where in Europe?
Oh, also is one gun type more prevalent in the areas you work? Parts, smiths etc. that may make a difference too.... my .02C

Thanks for the replies... hi there Eric - hope all is well. I work for DoD by the way. Many guys carry Sigs (we issue 228s and 229s) but I don't like the way the feel in my hand or shoot (good gun - just doesn't fit my hand well). The CZ fits my hand perfectly though as some have already said it is a bit heavy....10 ounces more than the Glock 19. I shoot the CZ well and I think it is a classy gun. Its amazing how many people don't know what a CZ is - people supposedly into firearms..... though I think that is changing slowly. That said I also shoot the Glock well. On any given day, sometimes I shoot the Glock better; sometimes the CZ.

A lot of our people also carry the Kahr as a back up or deep cover gun and it is an excellent handgun.

In Iraq we came across one particular weapons cache and believe it or not there were a lot of CZ-75s.... mostly from the early 1980s. Also lots of AKs etc. Even found a few Winchester 30-30 rifles.... go figure!!!!!

Another welcome!

I have a G19 that is over 10 yrs old (pre Clinton ban). It's been rock solid, accurate and trouble free. Only thing I've had to replace were the mag springs.

Glock 19, with Glock 17 mags. My daily carry combination...for both work and personal carry.

As far as effectiveness in combat shooting goes....that's up to you. For me the G19 hits where I point out to around 15-20 yards. Practice practice practice.

For a 9mm carry gun, I'd look at the Sig P225, P228, and P239, the CZ P-01, or the S&W 3913. I have the P228, and can attest to the fact that it is a quality piece.
