Just wondering how many people carry a full sized handgun concealed, on a routine basis? I used to carry a .45 combat commander - then had to go to a double action type so I carry either a CZ-75B or Glock 19; sometimes the Kahr K-9. The bigger handguns are harder to conceal but it can be done.

If you carry a full-sized handgun concealed a lot, what type of holster? Also, have you considered something smaller and why carry the full size? Just curious as to people's thoughts on this subject.
Thanks

Full-sized 1911 in a Sparks VM-2. Conceals like a charm under a T-shirt. Comfy, too. Thus, if I CAN conceal a full-sized gun reasonably comfortably, why would I carry anything smaller?

Edited 'cuz I can't type...or proofread...

5" 1911 in a DeSantis Inner Piece every day.

It conceals well and I shoot it well, so why should I carry anything smaller? (except as a BUG, of course)

I carry a Beretta 92 Vertec in a DeSantis Cozy Partner everyday.
This is possible because of my taaaaall lanky build and shirts that fit my shoulders have plenty of extra material around the waist to hide such a large firearm.:D

Tried a Para 16-40 in a Fobus for a while (ok, we all make mistakes!) - when I started to get hip displasia (sp?) I looked around for something else to use as a carry - also got strange looks when I'd reach for something on a high shelf at the market and it stuck out behind me like some form of mutant appendage - Switched to small frame .357 and got light, invisible and happy.

I know this is the 'autoloader' section, but the question was how many people carry a full size handgun concealed. I carry a Smith 686, 4" barrel, in a Don Hume's 715 IWB holster, well concealed. A good holster will make a difference in concealability.

H&K USP .45f in a $12.97 Uncle Mikes IWB holster currently riding under a black T-shirt. I just shoot a full size weapon better and have the most faith in the .45 acp cartridge.

When deeper concealment is needed or if I need to tuck in my shirt I carry a Kahr P-9 in a C-TAC holster by Comp-Tac. But the Uncle Mikes is by far the most comfortable and stable IWB I have used.

Different carries for different environments or different carry styles either way. A fullsize handgun is how some people carry EVERYDAY..its a matter of preference, comfort and simply, how they shoot the gun.

People who have practiced, carried and shot for years..pack a gun they are comfortable with.....they shoot well, know the gun, how it shoots etc....
For some this means taking a fullsize gun is the only way.......

I have 2-3 CCW's. I choose the gun/holster combo that is right for my known environment and my assumed environment.....
Your known is what you know will be happening, rain, formal party whatever.
Your assumed is "well, we may be invited to hot tub later on" or the weather man said...."it could go from 60 deg. to 100 deg in the next 15 minutes"
Cover all of the possibilities you know will or can happen.........go from there.
Shoot well

anytime it's cool enough to add an unbuttoned shirt or a jacket over my T-shirt, I carry my Beretta 92F in *gasp!* a Galco thumbbreak IWB Holster. noone even notices it. though, I can't get away with that during the stupendously hot and humid mid-summer months, so I'll carry my MK40 IWB in a lowly DeSantis Stealth. I'll probably upgrade the holster for the Kahr, but the Galco for the Beretta does a fine job and is comfy. if only it had a bit more rake built in, it would be near-perfect.

I'm pretty confident that once I get a 1911A1 (or a 1991A1 in my case) I could easily carry that everyday. though the grips are longer than my Kahr, they're not much thicker, and I'm *ahem* thick enough to conceal the length of the grips.

All so very seasonal! At present, snubby in a waistband holster . by Jim Burke of TX .... but as soon as I can have cover of a shirt then P97 in Fobus paddle. When coldest and more clothing .. P97 in Bianchi sho rig.

P95 still gets plenty of use but .... ''happier'' with P97!!:p
