Carry with oil in the tube?

Unless your particular concealed weapon is stainless or nickel...Wipe it down with a oil dampened gun rag of your choice DAILY. I don't know about you, but I have a lot invested (including my life) in my various carry weapons. My one nickel plated carry weapon is wiped down with a dry cloth daily also. It's not "fondling". It's gun care.

Wait a minute here. You mean I'm doing it wrong when I stick a plug of heavy gear grease in my barrel?!

Here's a very good series of videos, produced by Sig, on pistol maintenance. The one on lubrication will answer this question and maybe a few others also.

Thanks for this link. I found these videos really helpful. None of my three guns came with any clear guidance on cleaning and lubrication. The Sig guides appear applicable to any semi-auto. Thanks again for drawing them to my attention.

My CCW's are (in order) a Glock 23, Glock 26, Keltec P32, and a Kimber CDP 5".

I use a 50/50 mix of ATF and STP. I use a generous amount on the rails. It tends to stay put, but excess will leak out/down. I use CLP to clean my barrel and the last patch I put through the barrel is a little wet. I completely coat the outside of my barrel. I don't leave oil in the barrel, but I don't pull a dry patch through either.

Chances are a little oil in the barrel won't do much. Alot of oil, like filling a .40 or .357sig barrel and immediately shooting will cause the barrel to swell and ruin the gun. But I doubt it would do much more.

Generally I over lube. Never had problems with collecting grit. Then again, oiled grit is better than dry grit. I shot at the range once a month and then clean my CCW. Otherwise it stays cocked with one in it's pipe, and in it's holster 24/7 until my next range trip.

Slippery carry gun is a no - go...

Clean it, thin layer of oil, then wipe dry. Light oil on the rails. Keep obstructions out of the barrel. Oil may draw dirt, lint, etc.

Oil can kill the primers, as well.

So a fairly dry bore, chamber and breechface are your friend.

Every morning I run a patch of rem-oil through the barrel followed by a couple of dry patches. If anything, I do this to push out any dust or fuzzy bunnies in the barrel and it keeps the barrel protected w/o having to leave it oiled overnight and run all over my clothes. Afterward, wipe off outside with silicone cloth and holster it.
