Carrying Gun in Guitar Gig Bag for Motorcycle

I have a problem with transporting rifles on my full dressed road bike too. The best solution I have ever seen was a saddle scabbard attached to the side of a front fork. The rifle is vertical, in plain sight, and secure, I wouldn't think that would be any more illegal than a rifle on a gun rack in the back window of a pickup.

Al Capone meets Bruce Springsteen!

Bruce got money and turned into a typical Hollywood wuss.

OP, is there a law where you live (France?) that requires you to hide the shotgun?

I bought a $35 backpack at Costco last fall.

Went to a buddy's house a few months ago and decided to take my rifle. It's a PTR-91F (think HK-91). I field stripped it, put the trigger group and BCG in a ziploc, and it all fit nicely in the pack.

I can't imagine that a trap shotgun, broken down, wouldn't fit in such a pack. Heck, my barrelled receiver is aroun 30" long and doesn't break down any smaller.

That said, since open carry of an UNLOADED rifle is perfectly legal in my state, a few of my riding buddies and I are fixin to have a "Shoot-n-Scoot" this season: flag our long guns, saddle up and take the scenic route to the range. :)

^^^+1 I will carry absolutely nothing on my person when riding, except for my wallet, carried in my breast pocket and it is a very flat wallet. I once broke three of my ribs when I landed on a snuff can that was in my breast pocket, since then I carry nothing on me. All I carry is my keys and wallet anyway and the keys go in a storage compartment on the bike, under the seat works well.
Ribs certainly break easy. At least you didn't slam into some armco or a semi pop your grape.

This is right off the Government website. Looks like you will be fine as long as you can't easily access the weapon. I can understand using a Bass case if you have one but why not get a proper soft case for your new shottie? I just picked up a two gun softcase for $75.00 and it looks like a guitar case but has the proper straps inside to secure a weapon (2 guns) and magazines as well. It also has two straps on it so it can be worn like a backpack. Anyway, here's the info:

If some of you guys are worried about a 10 lb object causing you to lose control of a bike, you better reevaluate your bike riding ability. I just bungie my rifle/shotgun to the sissy bar. When other drivers see a gun on my bike, they are very polite drivers. BTW, I have been riding 55 years.......chris3

Attaching the firearm to the bike is a much safer option that having it somewhere on your body. After all, you are a lot more likely to go down in a wreck than to get in a gun fight while on two wheels. I knew a guy who did some time in a wheel chair after sustaining nerve damage from bouncing off a 4 wheel ATV and landing on a .44 Magnum worn behind his hip. That was over 10 years ago and he still is limited in how far he can walk.
