My Lake City factory loads for 55 grain FMJ are right at the max of 2.260

My reloading data uses 2.20 for various recipies. Anyone care to share what they are using in theirs with respect to COL (cartridge overall length)?

Thanks...

I seat so the the cannelure is almost hidden after a taper crimp. Short ammo will not have feed issues as Long round will possibly have issues.

the middle of the cannelure on my 55gr hornadys seats to 2.230 on lake city brass trimmed to 1.750

The max for a GI magazine is 2.260 and anything longer runs the risk of not feeding.

Often the manuals state a MINIMUM OAL in order to prevent a dangerously over pressured round. For my loads I trim cases and then seat so the cannelure is centered on the case mouth. For my current load this gives me an OAL of 2.225.

I am surprised no one has said this but....I go for minimum jump space without maxing out the magazine, that is, a long as possible in the mag since it is shorter than my chamber (using erasable marker and looking for rifling for too large). turns out very accurate for me. no feeding problems with 69 gr bthp sierra's in rock river wylde chamber SS backed with cci small rifle magnums primers pushing 748 powder.
