I have a Lee Cast Turret Press and the pro auto disc installed. The auto disc works okay, but I would like to try to install a different powder measure (perhaps a rcbs uniflow) on my turret. I know that I've seen a post here where someone has done just that (I think it was daveinflowerybranchga).

My question, which do you prefer, the Hornady or the RCBS case activated powder drop linkage? Are there others to consider?

Thanks.
Scott

While I've never tried it, I understand it will work for rifle. I suspect it WON'T work for pistol, but I've been wrong before.:uhoh: I have the old style Hornady CAPD, the new one is supposed to be better.

I do have the doubler for the lee disc measure for my LCT. I loaded some 45-70 a couple of weeks back, the largest cavity gave me enough capacity for the blu-dot loads I made. If the double disc set doesn't have enough capacity,( for stouter loads), I will try the hornady CAPD.

thanks, snuffy.

fyi, i am reloading .223 and 6.8 SPC. anyone else have experience with case activated powder drops (other than the lee auto disc)?

I have the Hornady LNL powder measure on my LNL press. I think it will work on any press... The case feeds up into an oversize die forcing up the powder through sleeve. Lever on the outsize pulls to rotate the powder drum as the hopper is pushed up. IMHO the vibration helps the powder settle. Look on youtube for videos. The regular drum is fine for rifle charges 41-84g and sometimes for pistol. I use the small rotor for 4.5 to 5.5g charges in WSF. Typical error less than my 505 scale will show. Did not seem to like American Select ( no graphite coating), will not use again.
