I happened to notice for the first time at my local neighborhood hardward store a couple of Case, cases. Prices for some of the knives ranged from $25-40 for pocket folders. A couple they had were about an inch and half long with some interestingly shaped blades and some very unique side plates (handles).

There was some literature for what they called the "Collector Series", I guess these were part of that in that some were quite unique.

Any comments on these guys. Maybe better priced on-line?

One was really cool, and I might just have to pay the 9% sales tax and be done with it. What's an extra $3.20?

Should everyone have one or two of these fancy Cases?

I don't collect Case's, but I enjoy carrying and using them. I usually have a Case peanut in CV in my pocket, either a chestnut bone CV or my old yellow CV. For the past month I've been using an amber bone with Devin Thomas damascus blades. Pretty thing, and cuts like the devil.

I've got an old yellow sodbuster that I carry for the heavier duty or dirty jobs. Also in CV.

I don't own safe queens, all my knives get used so to me when it comes to Case knives I am going to look at the blade steel first...I want CV. As for scale material I do like colorful knives but I would rather have plain bone and CV than very pretty scales and SS.

If you like the knife and the steel then get it.

Picked up a yellow handle CV case. Picked up 2 more. Then 1 more. I rotate through them all, depending on which one I feel like carrying that day.
Pretty soon, I'll be picking up another one.
Recently realized, I'm collecting. Once I get all the CV yellow handled models I can find, I'll move on to another type of scales. not sure which one yet. Yeah, I'm hooked.
I really do love these knives.

I like Case knives. They are made right here in Pennsylvania. My everyday carry knives are Trappers or canoes.

I have bought alot on Ebay. You can also try Case Knife Outlet. They have a bunch of Case Knives.

I'm a Case nut. I stop at Shepard Hills in Lebenon, Mo whenever I travel otherwise I buy on line. No good dealers locally.

I have a yellow handled Peanut in CV I like a lot. I mostly carry it to church and places where it isn't convenient to carry a larger knife. I'd like to have more, but can't really justify it.

Reaper,

Well done patina on that CV! Great looking shade of gray with those red bone handles.

Right now I'm working on getting most of the Yellow handled knives in CV. Got a stockman and a sodbuster, want a trapper and maybe a peanut before moving on to bone handles.

The problem is finding bone handled knives with CV blades, it seems. Most seem to be stainless. Their stainless knives don't seem as sharp to me.

after years of complaining at how outdated traditional knives were, I now own 5 different mini-trappers, plus a Spyderco Kiwi (Spydercos take on the traditional folder).

I honestly just learned to enjoy carrying and using the traditional knife patterns. I have, love and carry others, but over the last few months, it has become pretty rare to see me without one of my mini-trappers in my pocket during the work week. Like Reaper, I don't hesitate to use them for any of the tasks I might put any of my other knives up too, and I do so with confidence.

I own three Cases (with a fourth on the way) but my favorite mini-trapper to carry is a Kissing Crane with red bone handles. I know, made in China, it's probably junk, blah blah blah... Fact is, it's a well constructed knife that is every bit the equal to my Cases in fit and finish, and while I kind of have no idea what the steel really is, it seems to hold up just as well as my Case blades do. My second favorite, and one that I hope Case does another run of, is a Wharncliffe Trapper.

I picked up a small blue Case toothpick at the local hardware store last week and i'm hooked. Won't be my last Case. ;)

Suprised about the blister pack though.

I use it as a kitchen knife, therefore I cut all sorts of vegetables/fruits/meat/Etc. I even use it as a butter knife to spread jelly/peanut butter/mustard/mayo/Etc. LOL! I mainly cut a lot of apples and potatoes with it; that really puts on the patina. After use I rinse it under hot water and dry it. Once a week I rub a little mineral oil on the blades when I lube the joints.

The only three I have. Found the big folder at a yard sale last week, $35 with leather case. 1978 if I looked it up correctly. 3 dots under USA.
The other two I have never used.

If you are looking for good prices, keep an eye out for Shepherd Hills Cutlery in Lebanon, MO. If you get on their mailing list, they have a weekly special for 25% off their regular price which is lower than MSRP. On the 1st of the month, they have a customer appreciation knife that day only for 50% off.
Also, Kenny at SoonerStateKnives.com is a great guy to deal with and he has pretty good prices. He also carries more than just Case.
I have probably 80 Case knives now and most were bought from these two sources

Case Folding Hunter. Nice find. $70-$75 new.

Do any of those knives have a "CV" designation in the number?
