Ok this will probably make the seasoned reloaders roll their eyes but..
I ran out of case lube the other day , I usually use hornady one shot .
so I got a piece of rag and thinly spread some motor oil (castrol gtx) on it , then I rolled my cases ala case lube pad on it and resized them .... it worked great !!
after the rounds were assembled I wiped them with a dry rag , shot 20 to test out the load and had no detrimental effects .
Sooo.... my question is , are there any real reasons why I cannot or should not use motor oil as case lube ?
As long as no one has any proven reason why I shouldnt do this then I think I will continue to do so a little goes a long way and its cheap !!
