I think what it comes down to is you have a right to defend yourself. You just don't have a right to do it in NYC with a pistol in your home without a permit. Seems a bit odd to me and I seriously hope that she lawyers up with some attorney like Alan Gura for her defense. I'll donate $100 to SAF if they handle her defense. Anybody else?

Once upon a time in 1975 on a very cold January night in Finley ND an Air Force Sargent from the 785th Radar squadron runs his Chevy Blazer of the road a couple of miles from town. So he starts walking to town trying to figure out how he is going to get his vehicle out of the ditch . On his cold walk he remembers that the grain elevators next to the rail road tracks that run through town have straight trucks with grain boxes parked in its lot . He decides to go see if any of them have key in them. To his surprise the very first one has the keys in the ignition. Actually all of them did. So he say to himself, self I`ll just use this truck to pull my Blazer out of the ditch and put it right back where I got it.

As luck would have it , as he was pulling out of the parking lot of the grain elevator the local cop( Gene Lee ) (2 am) happens to be driving by .
Sargent see him and thinks OH crap I am about to be arrested for vehicle theft. Any way Gene Lee stops him and ask what he is doing with the grain elevators truck .The Sargent explains about the Blazer in the ditch and Gene Lee say to him. When you are done pulling you truck out of the ditch put it back where you got it and be sure to give the grain elevator some money for gas.

I think that sometimes this is what should happen because the local cop could have just a easily ruined the Sargent`s military career.
I was not the Sargent.

No.

States are allowed to place reasonable restrictions on firearms within their own borders.

Not if those restrictions are unconstitutional.

Shall not be infringed.

I don't care if a bunch of courts populated by leftists have ruled otherwise. Plain and simple language.

Yes, actually, they can. Time, manner, and place restrictions come to mind. There are (obviously) limits on how far such rights can be regulated, but they can be regulated to some degree. Think: parade permits.
This lady was in her home.

If you can't defend yourself with a proper tool in your home, where can you?

For too long, some states have been defiant of the natural rights of citizens. That time needs to end. NY and NJ are probably the worst violators.
