I'm diving into the world of reloading, it's for the 8MM remington magnum. I wanted the lee case trimmer but it doesn't fit the 8mm looks like.... Anyone know a good trimmer around a good price that will have fittings for the 8mm rem mag?

Thanks

Most of the "pencil sharpener" type trimmers from Lyman, RCBS, etc will trim it. You'll just need a .32 pilot.

A Lee 7mm Rem-Mag trimmer is too short to use for a 8mm Rem-Mag, even if it had a 8mm pilot.
The case length is totally different.

so you're saying I can't use the lee trimmer on the 8 mag? I have to buy a $100 lathe trimmer? I like the features of the redding, but people say the universal colliet isn't consistent, anyone tried the lyman ?

If the giroud made it for my caliber id prolly just splurge on that

I'm saying you can't use the Lee trimmer because they don't make one in that caliber near as I can tell.

Each Lee trimmer length gage is caliber and case length specific.

And nothing else is that caliber & length.

The only relatively inexpensive alternative would be an RCBS Trim Die, and a file.

Nice, thanks for the help everyone, never came across that. Id be concerned about the dye getting filed down? Is the dye some super metal that wont be affected?

If you can get a pilot made you can use the Lee cutting head. Some of the older Lee pilots had removable pins. If you could find one of those you could replace it with longer one of the correct length. Most of these pilots are heat treated steel and very hard so they don't wear.

No super metel.

It's just carbon steel hardened so it's harder then a file.

No.
You would need a longer case length gage as well.
The shell holder for 7 Rem mag & 8 Rem mag is identical, and the Lee cutters are wide enough, but 8 Rem mag is way longer.
The cutter wouldn't "know" when to stop trimming.

Edit: Should have read your post more carefully Blue68f100, I suppose if they make such a thing, it may work.

So out of curiosity, what do you guys use? I want to order one today but just am overwhelmed with which to pick.

I use an L.E. Wilson trimmer. You will need a case holder for 8mm Rem Mag.

I got mine from Sinclair International on the stand with the shark fin clamp and the micrometer adjuster.

I just picked up a Lyman universal trimmer with a pilot kit (sorry no 32) at Bass Pro for $69.

Just call Lee and give them the SAAMI specs for the cartridge. That's what I did for my 8mm Mag and my 240 Weatherby, as neither of those were standard offerings from them. I think it took 2 weeks and a $20 bill shipped to the house.

Thanks everyone, my uncle just gave me a lyman acuutrimmer.. lee custom orders are suspended
