Caspian TI frame woes

I wanted to get some feed back from you folks on a Ti Frame gun I have been unhappy with.

I had a custom makers 5 inch 1911 builot on a caspian TI frame.
The rails were straight and polished beatifully. The slide raceways were a work of art. It was snug but not overly so.

From the very first shot it felt rough. When you took the entire gun apart bare frame and slide with fresh oil the slide travel still felt like the TI was acting as a abrasive. The oil quickly becomes dirty like it is suspending material from the frame and slide.

Now after only about 2000 rounds the frame has begun to gall.

I am going to have acc-u-rails put in and be done with it.

All in all I am not happy with the way this TI frame is working out. Anyone else have these issues? Feed back please.

Call Caspian and discuss the problem with them; they have more experience with these frames than anyone else, obviously.

I'd suggest you talk with Gary Smith about it.

Did the smith that built it have any prior experience with the titanium frames? Maybe there's a little something that he overlooked.

I wonder if anyone else has had problems. This was one of my concerns when I first heard of the Ti frames. I have owned several knives made with Ti liners and have noticed they seem to be more abrasive than steel.

Called Gary,

He is a very nice guy by the way. He had a few interesting Ideas but I think its all going to be fixed by Acc-u-rail.

He suggested that that it is possible that there is some abrasive embedded in the Frame rails from the fitting process. That was just a Idea. He offered to look at the frame and do what ever he could to make it right. He did not try to shift blame or duck any thing. Nor did he try to make me feel like a fool.

The Gunsmith that built the pistol is also being very helpful and sticking with me on this. That is the bright spot in all of this.

I will keep you informed as interesting milestones in this process unfold.
