I enjoy frugal shooting, and can't hunt any more. At the range I love my Optima V2 pistol, and with a friend recently having bought one too, we went shooting a bit today at his farm. I tried several combos in my gun using gifted bullets and sabots. Minnie balls, some 250 grain cowboy bullets in sabots and felt wad behind the 250 grain cowboy round nose. For economy I'd prefer cast bullets. I use only Triple 7 but want to try Blackhorn 209 with the special breech plug in the near future.Missouri Bullet Company has a Keith style 255 grain hard cast semi wad cuter bullet, .452 diameter, for $54/400. Does this style bullet work well in sabots in an inline rifle or pistol? If not really, please make some suggestions. Thanks. Don

I have shot them in a MMP sabot in a 1:24 twist rifle and they are OK but not super accurate. These were hard cast 240 gr. Phoenix cast lead SWCs.
The most accurate combo in my Optima pistol (with scope) is a 240 gr. Harvester Scorpion PT Gold in a Harvester black crushed rib sabot and 42 gr. (by weight) of Blackhorn 209. Less than 2" groups at 100 yds. with a sandbag.

Even though you don't hunt, the same load is lights out on deer.
