Last time after I used it I sprayed it with some protectant like WD40 .
Cheap stuff I picked up .
Now the problem when I turned it on it
is smoking like a SOB .
Do you folks think if I sprayed it down
with brake cleaner or something I could get the oil out ?
When I used WD40 never had smoking like this.

Thanks

smokin problem...

Don't know how long you've been casting but just started myself. Still in the learning stages.

For now would setting it outside and letting it burn off work?

Using a Lee 10 lb. pot. Usually leave a good inch of lead in bottom. And the sides are just dirty enough not to worry about. So far I've used a small shot of WD-40 on the upper rim (where rust has been the prob. the most) and smear it around with my finger. Next time I use it, what lubricant remains seems to dry up/burn up during intial heating w/out much smoke.

Just my experience. Open to others $.02 though! :D

Happy casting!
