CCI Blazer 9mm Price drop - now $3.86 per 50!!!

Ok, I've been out of town for the past 4 days so I did a search for "Blazer" and didn't see a thread drawing attention to this so I thought I would start one because it could save some money for some of you.

I stopped by Academy Sports and Outdoors the other day to pick up some 9mm ammo for this past weekend. Previously my local Academy was selling Blazer for $4.99 per 50 rather than the $3.99 per 50 that some Academy stores sell it for in very competitive markets such as Dallas. However, when I walked in Thursday I just about freaked when I saw the new price... $3.86 for a box of 50 at my small-town Academy store! As Joey Lawrence would say..."Whoa!" The guy behind the counter said it appears that $3.86 is going to be the new permenant regular price. Sweet! I don't know if this change is going to be for all Academy stores but my gut says probably so. Everyone go check your Academy stores and report back in this thread, please. Don't chime in yea or nay unless you've checked the price since this past Thursday, May 27th. Maybe if some of you are not selling it for this price you should mention that some of them just had a price drop and see if they know anything about it or plans to drop in your area. It doesn't get any cheaper than this!

Another price change they had was their Remington 710 with synthetic stock and Bushnell scope in either .270 or .30-06 is now $299.99. Not bad!

Where do you shoot at? Used to shoot at Jefferson Indoor, before Louie passed. (Sure wish someone would take over that place.)

They have a new Blazer Brass line, but I haven't seen anything about the Al stuff being discontinued.

I never see Blazer that cheap here, Big 5 I think had it on sale for $7.99 a box for 9mm!

I have to stick with WWB for now.

The Big 5 sales flyer in last weeks local paper had CCI Blazers at $9.99 for a box of 50. I'll stick with the Wally World Winchester White Box value packs at $10.99 for a box of 100.

Academy has Blazer Brass in 9mm for just $1.00 more than the aluminum stuff. I've used several hundred rounds of it and have been very pleased. As far as I know, they're not discontinuing the aluminum stuff.

Where I shoot... my favorite indoor range is Precision in Baton Rouge. I've also shot at Shooter's Club (near the Jefferson range) but that range is quite small. For outdoors, I usually go to one of the sheriff department's ranges.

Didn't look at the 9Milly price, since I don't own one, but my local Gander Mountain has the Blazer Brass in .45ACP 230-Gr FMJ for $10/50.

The 'Brass' Blazer is supposed to be reloadable. Headstamped CCI, without the "NR" markings of the aluminum Blazer.

RGO -- never been to Shooter's Club. I've been shooting at Honey Island lately. Bit of a ride, but I usually meet up with a couple buddies and shoot, stop for lunch on way back, make a good half-day of it. Give me a holler if you want to come along. Plenty of room.

$3.86 today at Academy in Hoover, Alabamastan. Bought 1/2 case. With our 8% sales tax its still less than $ .085 per round.

Can 9mm be reloaded for that or less?

Shooter's Club is a great gun shop - knowledgable staff and great prices. Their range is only 3 lanes and 30 feet, though. It's located on David Drive near Airline.

I've never been to Honey Island, but have thought about it. I do have a new (to me) Mauser I need to try out. Send me an e-mail if you don't mind me tagging along the next time you go.
