I'd be obliged if someone could tell me which 22lr guns can accept this round.

I have a couple of CZ 452s and a CZ 75 Kadet. Are they suitable?

I've heard that bolt actions should not be a problem, but that semi-autos might be.

One thing troubles me: the case size of the Stinger is apparently a little longer than that of a normal 22lr round.

If this is true, how does the cartridge fit in a 22 chamber?

22s are rim sized (fit) to the barrel.
The Stingers are just a high velocity low bullet weight version. Shoot away, just remember that there will be a lot of meat damage on small game.

Anything that takes .22LR will handle them.

Some very few guns with short chambers or unusually tight tolerances or bad manufacturing might have feeding extraction problems. But, really, these may have them anyway, and if something will eject a live round it should eject a Stinger.

My 1954 Colt Woodsman likes them. They are just not that big of a deal. I actually prefer CCI Mini-Mags. Most of my .22 rifles prefer them over the Stingers for accuracy.

Alot of tight, match chambers will have problems with them. The brass is a bit longer on Stingers, than on all other 22LR brands. This makes for difficult chambering, when the chamber is just short enough to house a "regular" case, and may drive up the pressures alot if forced into battery.

all of the .22LR guns I have shoot them OK as far as function but I've had some 'dud' in rounds that I had carried for awhile. no clue why but years ago I had a 'squib load' that froze up my revolver while in the boonys on a camping trip and inconveniced a good bit I called CCI with a complaint the CS rep sent me out another couple boxes since then I run any loaded Stingers through the gun every couple months. they aren't the tightest grouping rounds in all my .22's.

PMC Zappers, in my experience, are just as good as the Stingers at about 1/2 the price.

Any .22LR should take the Stingers and I, too, have better luck with Stingers and Zappers in semi-autos.

The case is longer to hold more powder; the OAL is the same as a standard .22 LR round because the Stinger uses a lighter 30 grain bullet.

The cartridge will fit because the .22 LR uses heeled bullets. Heeled bullets are the same diameter as the external dimensions of the case, and were once common in old cartridges like .44 rimfire. The .22 short, from which the LR was derived, used heeled bullets, so the LR cartridge has retained this and is one of the only currently produced rounds to do so.

If you take a pair of pliers and pull a .22 bullet from the case, you'll notice that the portion that was in the case is smaller than the diameter of the bullet visible outside of the case. Modern cartridges use bullets of a smaller diameter to eliminate the need to form the heeled portion of the bullet.

Oh, almost forgot: the only cautions I've seen about using this ammo are in match chambered semi-autos. Since the chamber is so much tighter and was designed with the shorter case in mind, you may have extraction/ejection problems.

Worked in my Ruger MKIII & 10/22 as well as my Savage MKII. Very nasty results on small game. If you are a pelt collector, I would use something else.

I've owned quite a variety of 22 rifles and pistols over the years and I've found the CCI Stingers to be the most reliable for use in semi autos. My 10/22 & Mark II love them!

The CZ 452's have match chambers, so the stingers should not be used in them. I have 3 CZ 452's. Surest way to tell is, at the range, with the muzzle pointed downrange, manually chamber a .22 Stinger round in your CZ 452- you will find that it does not seat all the way in & a normal .22 LR round does.
I do not know about the Kadet.

I run Stingers in my Marlin 60 and my Kimber .45 conversion, in my 39A and old Ted Williams single shot too for that matter. No real issues but minimags work as well for me if not better.

Stingers should be good to go in any .22 LR chambered weapon, EXCEPT those with "Bentz" or match chambers. I know my Green Mountain barrel for my 10/22 expressly stated NOT to fire Stingers in it.

Stingers work in any .22 LR firearm. However, they may not shoot very well. You have to try 'em in your rifle. They're not a great deal different than any other .22 ammo. You just have to try a box in your rifle to find out if they'll shoot well. Cycling a semi-auto isn't an issue. They'll cycle, but won't necessarily shoot 'em well.
When hyper-velocity .22's first came out, away back, there were CCI Stingers, Winchester Expediters and Remington Yellow Jackets. Not one of 'em would shoot well out all .22's. You must try a box out of your rifle.
After all that, when hyper-velocity .22's first came out, a few of the regulars in the shop, I worked in then, did their own penetration tests on a standard U.S. M1 helmet(W.W. II). A daft bunch, some of whom had some real journalist credentials. Anyway, they shot the helmet with the 3 hyper-velocity brands available. Don't know the range. Both the Stingers and Expediters penetrated one side of the helmet. The Yellow Jackets went through both sides. Doesn't mean squat if your rifle won't shoot 'em accurately.

Sunray...Not all rifles will cycle with Stingers. I have a Winchester Mod 290 Semi-auto that not only is inaccurate using Stingers, but also, will feed them nose down causing a stoppage. But will feed and shoot accurately CCI Mini-Mags all day...

i have used them in bolts, semi-autos, revolvers, and levers, no problems in any of them. as far as actual dimentions, a 22lr, is a 22lr, is a 22lr. there might be a SLIGHT difference in o.a.l., but it would be minimal.
