I have read somewhere that you are not supposed to use CCI Stingers in target chambers due to their longer case. I have used them in my old Henry lever gun and they seemed alright. Well, the thing is, I just got me a Ruger Mk III hunter. On the side of the gun it stamped Target Model. I am hesitant to use the stingers in it because of that. Also, I have really looked through the manual and it had no mention of not using the stingers. Now, I am still unsure. Does anyone on here have any info on this topic??

I think stingers are hyper velocity, and you should not use them.
From ruger's frequently asked question:http://www.ruger-firearms.com/Firearms/FAQs?site=Firearm&cat=7#Q49

What type of ammunition should I use in my Ruger .22 pistol?
The Ruger .22 pistols are chambered only for the .22 caliber Long Rifle cartridge, standard velocity or high-velocity, manufactured to U.S. Industry Standards. Do not attempt to load hyper velocity, .22 Long, .22 Short, or any other type .22 caliber cartridge into the magazine or in the chamber of the pistol. Use of .22 shot shells is not recommended.

thanks a bunch,
I have read that passage a great deal of times and for some reason the hyper velocity part kept never caught on. either I am stupid or I was too focused on looking for something else when i was reading it.
well, that sums it up right there.

I shot 10 Stingers through my Mk III Hunter last weekeend. I had heard the same thing about the case length, but what the heck, that's what a Ruger is for. I stopped after 10 rounds because the recoil was clearly sharper than a Mini Mag. There's no way I'm putting them in my Mk II.

I also don't shoot Velocitor in my autos. I save those for my bolt action CZ's.
