CCW Friend killed by knife wielder

I have to agree that the real problem here was getting into a street fight outside a nightclub. That's placing yourself in a position to get killed, which is a bad beginning.

After that, yes, the next thing to think about was running after the malfunction--but who here has EVER trained to run away when the gun malfunctions? I admit it, I haven't. Something to consider, certainly.

Without a doubt putting distance between you and the aggressor will help to negate their luck and increase the potential of your learned skill. Most likely, BG hasn't trained to shoot at a moving target 10 yards away on the move. You have (at least you should have.)

And because you have trained, you know you need a back up plan in case plan "A" doesn't work. And because you have trained you already know that there's a pretty good chance that Plan "A" will fail because handguns are notoriously poor manstoppers. Better than rocks, but not quite as good as a 12 gauge.

First off, I would like to say I'm sorry for the death of your friend. We have very limited info on the story, who stated the fight, what engaged it, etc. I do however, have to give alot of credit to the man with the knife. Getting shot twice in the torso and killing a man with a knife and his hands. That is some motivation. I mean basically both men knew the other man was tying to kill the other and bottom line, it was a fight to the death. Your friend is also lucky he didn't harm anyone else outside a crowded club with the two missed shots.
