Suspected attacker shot and killed
A Tulsa man shoots and kills another man who police believe was sexually assaulting a woman.

Tulsa Police say the woman asked a man for a ride home on Saturday and that ride ended with the man dead. News on Six reporter Patrina Adger says around 11 AM Saturday, a 49-year-old woman asked 25-year-old Arville Jordan for a ride home. Police say Jordan had apparently been drinking, and instead, drove the woman to an alley near Archer and Detroit where Jordan got out to use the restroom.

Tulsa Police Sgt Mike Huff, "She was still seated in the vehicle wanting to get a ride home and he got back in the car, partially disrobed and then the attempted sexual assault started when she was resistant and screaming."

A man was looking at some construction property nearby when he heard the woman's screams. He got on his cell phone and called police, then yelled to the suspect to let the woman go.

The suspect let her go and he started to drive westbound on Brady. But then Jordan reversed the car, attempting to run over the man. The man ran the other way, then pulled out a gun and started shooting. Jordan continued after the man and hit him with his car. He tried to hit him again; only this time the man fired his gun killing Jordan.

Arville Jordan’s family told police he attended church and had a family. While police say Jordan had been arrested before, they say he’d never been arrested for any rape-related incidents. And Tulsa Police, as well as the suspect's family are puzzled about what exactly happened.

Police are still investigating. Monday morning, I spoke to the man who shot Arville Jordan. He tells me he's very upset over what happened this weekend. He says he didn't mean for anyone to get hurt. He was just trying to help someone who needed it. Police say the man did surrender his gun and it's not known whether he had a permit to carry it.

Police also say they will forward all the information to the Tulsa County DA's office, so he can determine what to do next.

Was there a later update that confirmed the guy as having a CCW?

How come every single one of these stories has the obligatory "he was such a good person/I'm sure he didn't mean any harm" paragraph? And it never seems to matter what the crime was either...

Rule of thumb: If someone in your family tries to kill a bystander for interrupting an attempted rape, he probably doesn't meet the textbook definition of "good person".

Rule No. 1: Don't talk to ANYONE about what happened!

This man will probably get sued, and they'll use that against him. I understand that it shows sympathy, but it also shows REGRET, which a good lawyer will use to argue "So, what you're saying is you never should have used that gun, and Mr. Jordan would still be alive today..blah, blah, blah....."

Yeah ... and then they almost always will make comments about the guy who stepped in and came to the rescue, like ... "it's not known if the GUNMAN had a license for his gun" ... "the gunman's house was searched and an arsenal of three guns was seized, a 30 caliber rifle, a 12 guage shotgun, and a 22 caliber pistol, plus over a hundred rounds of ammuniton" ... "the gunman was seen practicing at the local range on recent weekends" ... blah, blah, blah ....

They will blame the woman

Wasn't the womans fault, as far as blame can be assigned. It was solely the fault of the attacker.

It would be nice for any lady to be able to get a ride home from any drunken 25 year old at no risk to yourself. Sadly, however, we don't live in a world like that. Anyone above the age of four who understands when mommie says "don't talk to strangers" knows this. So, while it is certainly not the woman's fault, she didn't do too well at Risk Management 101.
