Weapons permits grandfathered under the Brady Law in four states and the District of Columbia expired on Sunday, November 30, 2003. For more information, Federal Firearms Licensees should refer to the following links http://www.atf.gov

Florida
Kentucky
Texas

"... Therefore, as of November 30,2003, all of the "grandfathered" permits will have expired and FFL's may no longer accept a concealed weapons permit as an alternative to a NICS check..."

No change for me since I had to get the check anyway.

Still, being able to get your handgun the same day is worth it to me. Especially at out of town gunshows. You can't even get your gun the same day if you are Law Enforcement without a permit! :D

Yeah, we were able to bypass NICS for awhile there, under very limited terms. My last NICS check took only seconds - it was great!

Just think of how much safer we are now with all these background checks

So this means in Texas if we have a CHL we now have to still get the NICS check when we buy a gun?

EDIT: Just read the link. It seems in Texas, CHL's will still get you out of the NICS check, but TCLEOSE Licenses will not.

In Minnesota, we still have to go through the NICS check even if we have a CC permit..............
