I have a 2 1/4" and a 3 1/16" Ruger SP101 and prefer the 3 1/6". It just feels better to me.

2" for a pocket J frame
4" for IWB - I find that the longer barrel helps tuck the butt into the waist.

I just broght this poll neck to neck 2" or 3" by my vote. yeah.I voted 2 inch, I love 3" for home defense but 2" is more concealable.

I typically carry a 2" snub in the pocket, but am starting to carry a 4" Thunder Ranch Special (S&W 21-4). That 4" barrel is nice to have and it conceals fairly easily. The snub just changes pockets now.

For the record I said 4". 2" and 3" have too many fans. :)

I realy prefer my S&W 13 3" for carry but most of the time I carry a 2" 642, but that is off to the smith finally to have a 940 cylinder fitted, so I carry either a 3" 13 or a 3" 60

When I carry a revolver, it's usually in a pocket. So a 2" barrel works best for me.

3 inch if I have to choose one length across multiple frame sizes.

Would normally tailor 2-3 for Js...3-4 for Ks...4-5 for L & N. IMHO.

J frame- 2" W/ IWB holster
K & L frame- 2-1/2"- OWB holster
N frame- 3" W/ OWB holster

Cylinders on the K,L and N frames are to big to comfortably carry IWB.

I carry a 4-1/4 Commander IWB. That's as big as I go.
