FN Hi-Power 9mm Belgian S/A Pistol Matte Finish
1-10rd and 1-15rd Mag $439.99

So, does anybody know the history of these? are they new or used? and it seems that most of the 9mm S/A's that I've seen are more like $600 so this seems like a good deal.

I wonder if it's the SFS Hi-Powers? Or the FN double action "Hi-Powers"

Where did you see this? They still have their old catalog up on their website.

I get their sale notifications in my email, and all I know about them, is what I posted. And from the description, it's a single action, they also list a .40 S&W model and a couple D/A models.

FN Hi-Power 9mm Belgian S/A Pistol Matte Finish
1-10rd and 1-15rd Mag $439.99

FN Hi-Power 40s&w Belgian, Polished Finish
Walnut Grips, 2-10rd Mags $499.99

Compact 9mm D/A Only, Night Sights 1-10rd Mag
Belgian Pistol $299.99

FN Hi-Power 9mm D/A Only Full Size Belgian Pistol
1-10rd Mag $279.99

Yes the catalog is on their website, but these prices aren't listed.

Sounds like it's an FN MkIII for a dang good price. $439 is a screaming deal on wheels for one.

...If only I had that $439...

I heard that I did....

The HiPower is the only full sized 9mm pistol I ever REALLY liked...:p

CDNN is a wholesaler, you must have an FFL to buy a firearm from them as far as I know. So that would be a wholesale price but not really a spectacular price.

If they were a retailer and sold to the general public it would be a very good retail price.

I called and was told they are brand new ITB, it's the single action only model, AAAACK!, now I have to eat a bunch of green paper so I can started pooping $$$$$.

Master Blaster, I have 2 different sources for $15 transfers, the real problem with CDNN or any online purchase is the expensive 1 day shipping that is required for a pistol, which I think is $25. But still after all is said and done it will be about $520 total, which i still cheaper than the $650-$700 you would pay after taxes in most local gun shops.

I guess you could say that I purchase regulary from CDNN and I called my rep about this as well as soon as I saw the email flyer. They are indeed the standard SA FN HI Powers...no SFS, no DA/SA.

CDNN only charges a flat $10 for all of their shipping. For the 2 handguns I have seperately ordered, the shipping was $10 for each. It's an insignificant amount.

GRRR, I just went to Legendary Guns here in PHX and all of their FN Hi-powers are up above $800 right now, I just can't see how I can afford one of these though considering I just put a new SxS shotgun and a Winchester Model 94 on layaway.

I guess I could sell my FEG.

Ok, so I arranged to buy one of these things......which model is worth buying?

Is both the .40 and 9mm the S/A version? (No SFS or DA/SA).

As you can tell I'm new to HPs.

I have 1 in .40 and its not exactly the most reliable of my pistols. I wish I would have gotten it in 9mm instead. All of the regular HPs are single action regardless of .40 or 9mm.

IMHO, the great thing about HP's is the fact that it's a 9mm hi-cap that's single action and feels sweeter than anything else (except maybe a CZ75) in your hand, if I wanted a .40, or .45 there are plenty of other pistols to choose from.

You can get 17 round mags for these.

I understand that if you are looking for a primary SD pistol why you might want one in a .40 though, but to me, it's not why I want one.

Cool, thanks for the info people........

Next, how is the gun sold by CDNN different than this model that states it's a SA 9mm with a factory SFS safety system? Maybe at that price it isn't Belgian? Or just that the CDNN guns don't have the SFS system? Both?

But since I know nothing, experts feel free to comment.

It looks to me like the difference is the SFS, the CDNN pistol doesn't have it, also the gunbroker pistol has lots of magazines.

They are both Belgian, FN is a Belgian company, and the only manufacturer of HP's currently (Browning still sells them, but they are FN manufactured and Browning tuned and finished.

Gotcha, I know FN is Belgian but being under the Browning category and mentioning Browning in the model title was throwing me off.

Been looking at one of these for a while now.....guess now is the time.

Haven't held a HP before though.....can anyone tell me if they fit larger hands better than the CZ-75? The beavertail looks to be a bit smaller. Thats a plus for me.

I don't think I have ever met someone who doesn't like the way HPs feel when being held, big or small hands. Points naturally for most people also, only thing that generally recieves complaints is the trigger.

...and even that is relative. If you are of the opinion that a 1911 trigger is good and everything else is poop, then yeah, the HP out of the box will seem like poop. But compared to most other pistols, it is still pretty decent out of the box, and can be cleaned up by a competent smith to be down right scary good.

My BHP gunsmithing involves removing the magazine disconnect safety. Mine has a nice crisp 4lb. pull after less than 1,000 rounds. Some of the newer models (post 1994) I've owned and ones I've tried out were less than crisp though. I believe it has something to do with the cast parts they use now, but that's just in my opinion.

I just spoke with CDNN and they have the Mark III SFS Hi Power for $469 and Browning Hi Power for $499. They didn't have anything for $439. Where did the original intel come from?
