I have a Surefire on my front left, Emerson on front right, wallet in back left and keys in front right. My only real problem is the cell phone. Not liking to put stuff in my pocket, I like to hip carry my cell phone, but it makes huge bulge when I untuck my t-shirt and am considering pocket carry for the phone, as much as I love my Nite-Ize phone holster thing.

Where do you end up putting your cell phone? I've had people comment on the bulge on my belt (phone, not sidearm) and would, um, prefer to keep a lower profile, literally.

You need an ear piece and lip mike set up, with your cell phone strapped upside down to a set of khaki suspenders, ala jungle knife style. That's the most tactical way of doing it.

Skunk, the only truly tactical thing would be to strap it on your helmet.

It's YOU, dude! It's YOU! :D

Put it in the radio pocket of your tac-vest and wire it to a throat mike and earpiece.

:D

Me, I put mine in my pocket.

I generally wear Cabelas' Nailhead Trailhiker pants. These are cargo pants made out of a heavy denim-like material. They come in your standard earthtone colors (and blue). They have a knife pocket in addition to the normal pockets cargo pants would have.

The "knife pocket" fits my cellphone rather well. That's where I normally carry it. Works so well in fact, I forget I have it, until it rings.

1. You could get a Bluetooth adapter for your phone, then it wouldn't matter too much where you put it.

2. I clip mine on the watch pocket right next to my Benchmade. I can still get to both without compromise.

I don't mean to sound "smart" but I always keep a very SMALL cell phone anymore. (Would that be considered a "tactical cell phone"!?) It really doesn't seem to "print" much on my waist. (Or could it be that my belly is so big that it "prints" over the phone???) ;)

- the first cell phone I had years ago was a lot bigger than my carry gun!

Logistar

- LOVE the helmet phone!!!!!

I'd have to go with Erick on this one. I wear mine clipped to my left front pocket. It kind of draws the attention away from the bulge my Beretta (Reehaw!!) makes on the other side.:)

If I'm wearing carpenter jeans, my cell phone stays in one of the pockets down by my right leg.

If it's a cargo pants day, well it stays in one of the cargo pockets.

Plain Jane jeans? Jam it into one of the pockets.

Personally, I always thought the guys with cell phones on holsters looked a little dorky - like they really wanted a gun there, but instead they have this job where they are on call, etc.

Like my buddy, who used to forget to take his work name badge off when he went home.

I know it's a generalization and it's not true all the time for all of the people, but I don't like having stuff hanging off me... I have a pretty small Nokia phone that fits in my jeans pocket on top of my wallet... yup, it all fits in there, and is very smooth. Hate the 'flip open' phones, myself.

I like the earphone, clipped to my shirt, with the phone in my pocket. No thanks to those "Bobby Brown" headsets.

Opinions, opinions.

Cargo pants pockets are the best place for it. Or if you have carpenter pants one of the pockets is often the perfect size for a phone. That way it is in a pocket all by itself so it is never in the way if you have to grab your keys or something else quickly or if you have to grab it quickly.

Skunk,

Why not put your wallet in your front left, move your keys to your back left and put your cell phone in your front right?

1. Your wallet will be better protected against pickpockets. Buddy from Peru recommends this highly.

2. Your wallet will probably not get in the way of your Surefire if it is clipped to your front left pocket. Yes the light will interfere with drawing your wallet but I doubt you need to whip out your wallet with any due speed. I use a money clip in my front left pocket -- less bulk, easier to remove from the pocket despite the Spyderco Delica clipped to the same pocket.

Your cell phone is then off your belt -- not high fashion to have stuff hanging off your waistline anyway.

I RESEMBLE THAT REMARK, MISTER! :fire:

You and I must be built differently or something. I have kept my keys, Brunton Helios lighter and Buck Mini-tool in my left rear pocket since around 1995. My job requires me to sit most of the time. And I've never had problems with the keys while sitting. Oh well, YMMV.

I buy shirts with at least one pocket, and always carry it in my shirt pocket.

I mostly own 'carpenter' or 'painter' style jeans, or cargo pants. Those little pocekts on the side of the leg work great.

anyone remember when cell phones couldn't even fit in the pocket? How about the old 'bag phones' ... technology:D

Somewhere in my archive I hope I still have a pic taken in Africa a few years back.

Your basic Masai tribesman, complete in all his traditional tribal dress. He's standing on a dirt path, the African plains stretching endlessly behind him....

In one hand he's holding a spear that is taller than him (which is saying a lot.).

And he's yakking on a Motorola bag phone!

Now THAT'S tactical!

:D

Quartus: I'm sure _you_ are cool. But those other guys... LOL.

"I remember when a cell phone was a status symbol" -sven, in beijing, 1998... after seeing about 20,000 chinese people, half of whom were talking on cell phones

Hey, Sven, I really do wear my cellphone on my hip, and I really do have it because of my job. Uh, I engineer cellular networks. I kinda gotta have a phone, you know? I mean, how would it look? :D

And I really DO wish it were my .45! :uhoh: (Corporate America tends to frown on CCW.)

I know what ya mean about the Chinese. <sigh> I've been there three times on business. Do you have any idea how hard it is to convince a Chinese telecom manager that you CANNOT guarantee perfect service in ALL of his massive city's 900 high rises? :what:

I'm sure _you_ are cool.

Well, of course!

:D

Dockers Mobile Pants. I bought a couple pair recently. Pretty cool. It has two more pockets underneath each of the front pockets and have zipper openings. The real neat thing is the way the pockets are designed. They keep your items well balanced and don't swing around and make extraneous bulges.

I work at a University in the Campus Computing department and I'm always in and out of my office. I carry a lot of stuff while at work: wallet, cell phone, compaq ipaq (sometimes with wireless card adapter), keys, apple ipod. I can run the ipod and cell phone in the front left top and bottom, and my keys and pda in the front right top and bottom without any problems. Wallet in right back, and if I need it, a Surefire 6P or G2 in left rear.
