Greetings All,

My fiancée surprised me with a Century Arms Yugo M70 AB2.

I just took it shooting today and I have a few questions and would appreciate any help or suggestions that may be offered.

1. The black polymer lower hand guard got extremely hot. So the barrel must have been really baking. Can anyone recommend an upper and lower hand guard system with rails for mounting accessories and will allow air to get to the barrel so it doesn’t get so hot?

2. She also gave me a bayonet from Apex Gun Parts
(https://www.apexgunparts.com/product_info.php/cPath/21_71/products_id/943)
The blade is almost 5 inches and is nice but does anyone know where to get a bayonet with a longer blade? Maybe 12 inch blade or lomger

3. This is a bit of odd item I am looking for. Does anyone know of a recoil but pad to put on the rifle? I know the stock would not fold properly with recoil pad installed. It would just be for slipping on when the stock is unfolded. Due to an accident my shoulder is held together by several screws and bolts and the under folding stock made it feel like a mule kicking me with each shot.

4. Any recommendation on night sights? I use Meprolight Tritium sights in a few other firearms and really like them, but I don’t think they fit a Yugo M70.

Thanks for any help you can offer,
Jake

ps:
I am thinking of getting an ATI Scorpion recoil pistol grip. Anyone try this grip before?

1. Midwest Industries makes a nice railed handguard set. It's ventilated aluminum and solid enough to mount an optic on the top section.

2. AK bayonets are pretty standard. Something like you propose would be a custom job.

3. I don't know how well slip-on pads work with underfolder stocks, so something like the PAST pad is probably your best bet.

4. Here, Meprolight AK sights:

I don't think the MI handguard fits the Yugo models. The Yugos have a longer handguard than other models.

This is may sound stupid, but with regards to the heat problem, here's what I did. I took off my handguard and put aluminum tape on the bottom half. Now my handguard is the vented Saiga one, so the idea was that the aluminum would reflect the radiated heat (like aviation firefighting bunker gear) out of the top vents and away from my hands. So far, no problems.
