Century M1A???

So I found a couple of used M1A's at a gun store today one was marked Century M1A on the price tag. I asked the guy if I could look at it but I couldnt find any markings on the rile itself. It had a black synthetic stock and came with a bipod and a scope mount. The scope mount was covering the left side of the reciever and im guessing that it was covering the manufacturer markings. I have just never heard of century building M1As. I know very little about M14 variants but I would like to get one someday. They also had a Polytech M1A for the same price of 899. The Polytech had a sinthetic brownish redish stock and a wooden top foreguard. So does anyone know about Century M1As??? and are either of these worth buying?

Save up and get a Springfield. For that price, a couple hundred extra is worth the wait. I haven't heard of the Century versions either, but I did own a Polytech m14s (m1a). It is an ok gun, but the bolt is made of soft steel. After time, the bolt ears will wear, and cause excessive headspace issues. Most people that own them have the bolt replaced with a Springfield or other mil-spec bolt, and for $900 I hope that one had it done. Polytechs are good plinking rifles, but save up and get a Springfield. You will be much happier in the long run.

You found a mismarked rifle.

Century has not made M14 pattern rifles (thankfully).

I highly doubt Century has imported any M14 pattern rifles, either.

Century Arms International imported both Polytech Industries and Norinco M14 rifles. I saw one two weeks ago at a gun show.

If that Polytech had a USGI bolt fitted, that's a good deal. Otherwise, it is an ehhhh deal. Not bad, but not jump-on-it good. I've seen them for $800-ish fairly often, and once for $500.
