I went thru my CFC packet today to find a suitable recipient and found #1054 Gun Owners Foundation. Just thought I'd share in case any of you are looking to "target" your donation.

but you can also give to the NRA Foundation and NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund through the CFC. I do this every year and I actually enjoy seeing the money deducted from my paychecks

Combined Federal Campaign. Basically, a big .gov employee fundraiser for non-profit groups.
My money goes to the USO and to Fisher House.

For those of us in the Army, it means a company formation for a spiel by the unit CFC guy.
Fisher House provides a place to live for the families of soldiers who are in the hospital. Nowadays that mostly goes for the families of wounded troops who have been shipped stateside for treatment. A most worthy cause.

It is a big, charitable giving effort for federal employees, civillian and military. Giving is optional. Being bugged about it by the "CFC Giving Coordinator" is not. You fill out a form and the amount you choose is deducted from your paycheck and given to charity. If you don't pick particular charities, you deduction gets spread among them all. Many, many are causes that I wouldn't give used toilet paper to. A handful are excellent causes that support the freedoms that we are sworn to uphold.

My third year in the Air Force, and my third year giving to the NRA Civil Defense Fund. Good Stuff, although there are some freaking rediculous charities in the CFC packet. It always provides a good laugh in our shop.

Some Government organizations are pretty good about just letting you know it's available and leaving you to make your own decision to give or not. Others appear to be worse. I always gave my people a quick, strong pitch and then let them know they could come to me with questions. I never judged anyone on what they gave or didn't give. Many folks gave in various ways to their own outside causes.
But if you do choose to give and you are not a hopeless liberal romantic it is best to designate where your money goes. I gave to those organizations which I knew would provide help in the ways I wanted my money to go.

I gave to the NRA when I was in the service. Now, as a state employee, we have SECC, or State Employee Charitable Campaign, and they somehow keep forgetting to put NRA or GOA in there....I must complain.

How many vets out there remember when we HAD to give?? I was in the Navy (1984-2004) and I worked for a chief in 1989 that made us all give. The way he did it was the old "no one is off work until everyone gives" Of course 100 percent participation made him look better.

Yeah, they tried that crap on me when I was in the Air Force. I told them to shove the CFC where the sun don't shine. Any contributing I felt I needed to do I could do directly without having any of my money go towards keeping the CFC running and funding all the leftists, because even if you designate your donee, part of that money still goes to fund the CFC. It got to the point where my OIC pulled me aside and wanted me to just sign the form, they would make the contribution for me so they could show 100%. I wouldn't do it.

NRA defense fund and GOA are on my ticket as well as The Rocky Mountain Elk foundation and National Wild Turkey Federation.
