I bought a few pounds of CFE 223 and took some of it to the range yesterday with some 55gr FMJ. It meters very well, looks a lot like BL(C)-2 and is close in speed. I worked up loads with both CFE and BL(C)-2 yesterday and got about the same accuracy with both. Can't say much about the cleaning abilities of it, because my rifle had already a few hundred rounds.

Anyone else try it yet?

If anyone in Tucson wants to try some, I have a little extra.

What range do you go to? Ive been looking for someplace up there to try. I was told it shoots like h4895 and to try it in my 308 but ive got a bunch of it already.

I've used about 1/2 can in my AR results are very good using Sierra 52 gr match and 55gr sierra, groups average .800 @100 yards, my second best powder for the AR is Reloader 7, I intend to do some more testing of the CFE223 in my bolt action rifle.

Your test was nullified by the fact that your gun was not clean to start with. Don't expect to get good results from dirty barrels. Just my 2 cents.
Not entirely. I wasn't expecting great accuracy, because the gun was dirty and it was really windy. I only clean my guns for matches and when they stop working. My test was between the two powders and it was good because all other factors were equal.

Remind me never to go shooting with you! Safety first, foremost and always. Not just when you need to shoot a match and someone might see how dirty your guns are. Or worse yet, your gun misfeeds cause there's so much crap in the action you cant tell if there's a bullet in the magazine!

They'll start to get finicky before they get unsafe, then I clean them. I'm not worried about appearance, just functioning. But even when I move back to WA state, we'll be on different sides of the mountains.

BTW, welcome to the board.

I just looked it up on Hodgdon's burn rate table and was surprised to see that it is pretty slow burning. (Slower than 748). Do I smell a good 175 SMK 308 load? Hmmmm......
