CFE pistol and Lee pro auto disc: what VMD?

There is also a Lee Chart that is kinda sorta close to what hole to use in the Auto Disk but it will vary with every lot of powder. humidity etc etc.
Yes there is. However, since CFE-p is a new powder it doesn't appear on the chart I have, hence the question.
The vmd really has little to do with selecting the correct charge????
VMD doesn't help you select the correct charge; HOWEVER it does let you know how relatively bulky or fluffy a powder is, and if you have a chart that lists orifice sizes for a similar VMD powder, you can get close to what you're looking for without having to change discs 20 times. See? :)

The vmd for CFE PISTOL is listed on the chart pdf I linked to?

I have used the Lee Pro Auto Disc for many many years and it is very easy to find the correct disc hole within say 3 tries,

Once I determined the correct hole/weigh I wrote a log book for all of the powders I used. I never used CFE or I would give you the charge weights per disc.

I now use the new Auto drum which is even more betterer!:) For $35 I doubt I will ever use the auto disk, charge bar, micro disc double disc again!

Weigh out how much powder you want (any powder) put in the brass case, now put a disc that looks about right on a smooth flat surface (with a piece of paper under it) Dump the powder in one of the holes. If it is over, then simply pick up the disk and pour the powder from the paper in the next bigger, repeat as needed. See;)

Just because a powder has the same or similar vmd does not mean it will fall into the correct charge weight was all I was saying.

The .0754 number is pretty close my jar is closer to about .076 (calculated)
I have a spreadsheet that let you plug in the VMD and gives you CC (Lee disk owner) so I used it.
.

No Macros in the spreadsheet

PS you should always Enable prompt for MACROS in Word and Exell IMO.
Then you can decide to run them or not.

BTW, you should really calculate the VMD using powder samples from the powder canister as per LEE instructions as the VMD does vary a bit from lot to lot. The failure to actually calculate the VMD for the sample and using the average powder VMD data provided by Lee means that your loads will be off a slight bit if that matters to you. When I open a canister, the first thing that I do is calculate the average sample VMD (using about ten samples from the canister) for that particular canister. Usually kept my loads +/- .1 grain.

Good idea. For what it's worth, in my measure CFE pistol is within .1 grains of autocomp and silhouette. Thanks for the help.

Just for fun let us know what VMD your jar of CFE-P works out to.
On some things Lee is close and on some they are out to lunch IMO.
They list WSF at .084 my jars have been closer to .090.
They list Unique at .1092 the 1lb of Unique I used was closer to .13.

dudedog LMK how I calculate that again.

Yeah, Unique is WAAAAAY off from the Lee chart. Like more than a full grain usually. I of course write down what it actually throws. It's very consistent but the chart is very wrong.

Some powders throw right on, usually Hodgdon or Winchester powders that are the tiny "flattened ball" grained powders. the larger flake powders usually throw light compared to the chart, but usually consistent charges. Clays and 800X and Trail Boss I can only get to within about .3 grains consistently.
