Has anyone used the CH4D Primer Pocket Swager and Lee Classic Cast 4-hole Turret together? Do you think the press is strong enough for it? Looking at how the CH4D tool works (http://www.surplusrifle.com/shooting2005/squeezeplay2/index.asp) it looks like I'd tear a rim off a case before I killed the press.

I'd rather not shell out the $70 for a Lee Cast Single Stage press. For that $$$, I'd just get the Dillon Super Swager tool. I'd be using this on .223/5.56 and 9mm military brass with crimped primers.

Thanks in advance!

I have both the Classic cast & Classic turret Lee presses.

The bottom part of both are the same but I would feel more comfortable swaging on the Clasic cast.

Seriously, if you have the few extra dollars and the inclination to do so I would go ahead and buy the Dillon. It will be much less frustrating and you will be much happier in the end. It will be a much quicker and smoother process as well.

What frustrating?

What part of operating my classic cast press is frustrating? I must have missed something. Another "Dillon solves all problems" guys?

For the operation I see in that link, it would certainly be strong enough. I use mine often with collet dies and they take about 25 lbs of pressure at the handle which I understand transferes to nearly 600 at the top of the ram. I haven't hand any hint that I'm stressing the press with anything I've done yet.

Another one of those jumping to conclusions and judging books by their covers guys.....Actually I refuse to buy anything Dillon...I never have and have no intentions of doing so in the future. I don't mind using Dillon stuff if somebody wants to give it to me though. But I have to give them credit they do make a quality product...its just usually way overpriced...I am removing the crimps from 30,000 223 cases and I could do it on the RCBS Swage kit I bought...I would probably die before I finished, or I could do it on the Dillon and knock it out quickly and effortlessly. For the record my presses are all Lee Red because they are quality affordable presses.

Seems like the CH4D swager does not have compatibility problems with other presses (due to the case stripper of the RCBS swager not fitting over larger rams), and particularly the Forster co-ax. CH4D sells the swager alone, or combined with their ram-prime type priming tool.

Also, the adjustable handle of the Lee classic (single or turret) presses would come in really handy with the CH4D swager, since it only needs about a quarter inch of stroke.

If the case rim will stand up to the swaging force...
