Located at mile marker 137 on US 285 between Buena Vista and Salida, CO.
8 rifle positions with target hangers at 25, 50, 100 and 200 yards. LOADS of steel past that most of them clearly range marked. There is literally steel out to 1000 here.
After dialing in my bore-sighted Colt 6920 I spent a stupid amount of ammunition shooting the Mule Deer (355 yards) and the Antelope (275 yards) and the three gongs I circled trying to replicate the kind of shooting we do down at Pueblo West.
Even without a spotter, I could hear the impacts.. and by double checking with a spotting scope I'd brought along I could easily see my hits.
It seems like each evening or early morning the targets are re-painted.
I've noted just a few but there are far more on the hillside. Foxes, rabbits, prarie dogs, poppers, gongs and plates are all over the hill some at known and some at ranges you'll have to estimate based on known targets.
Really a great range. It's primitive so be aware there no running water just a unisex outhouse (but it was very clean). There are ranges for rifle, handgun, shotgun and just for sighting in rifles, plus a nod to the tactical shooters with a range set up with a doorframe/window barricade.
There is a strict no tracer, AP, 50cal BMG of full auto rule on the range.
Take plenty of ammo if you go, pack a cooler and some soft drinks/Gatorade/water as it can get HOT out there.
