Does anyone besides MCACE make chamber adapters? I wanted one for a VZ 24 to go from 8x57 to 7.92x33. For the price of the new barrel ($225+labor) I could get back into reloading and try reduced loads. Any thoughts?

I haven't come across an adapter for that caliber conversion. I think that you'll have to get one custom made; because there is not enough of a demand for that type of item. Generally, people want to go to an easier-to-find or cheaper chambering; ie not 7.92x33 Kurz, which only debuted in the Stg44, and never became a mainstream cartridge.

Why would you want to go from cheap surplus ammo to something only made by Prvi; and expensive at that?

If you have a VZ24 and want less recoil, overall it might be cheaper to pick up a Mauser in .308 or an Ishapore 2A than buying Kurz ammo...let me restate that: for the cost of 1000 rds of 7.92x33 (and an adapter) you could have another mil-surp rifle and a 1000 rds of cheap surplus ammo. Thereby....twice the fun?

Not that I am aware of, and from all accounts those are difficult to find.

I would do as you suggest and simply develop some light loads. I would be very surprised if this couldn't be done for less than the cost of 7.92x33mm ammo anyway.

:)

I looked around for a long time for chamber adapters. Other than the .30-06 -> .32 ACP converters, I found nothing. Some people say MCACE is still active but they don't seem to answer emails to me at least.

I had to call them in order to get a response. Nice people to do business with, but email is something they don't do well.

So do they have a converter for a 20 ga to something like a .38 or .357, just wondering? Also I know this is the wrong thread but I know they make flares for 12 ga and .410 but does anyone make flares for the 20 ga? Thanks

NO, that's like popping a round down a sewer pipe, worse than pointless

yes the have flare, you look for them, you find them
as for converters, dropping from a relatively plentiful and inexpensive round, to a relic round that no one makes, and if they do, only in small specialty runs...

Oh, and if the other guns are mosins, I would hazard a guess, but I would say a crate of rifles and ammo for the adapter (1-2 rifles right there at least) and 8 kurz

+1 about calling McAce - you'll wait a long time for an email response.
I have a number of their adapters. They work well enough for what they are.

Yes. I carry an adaper and a round or two in my hunting vest any time I am out upland. I have one in 20ga to 9mm.

Aside from McAce...there are shotgun adapters for common calibers available on Ebay. They are also quite functional. Search for "shotgun adapters".

Thanks for the posts I was just wondering about the adaptors you know throw them in my bag just in case. As for the flares I've been searching like crazy and nothing for the 20 ga. Any ideas?

I've displayed these adapters before. I have a single barrel break action 12 Ga Springfield that I fitted with rifle sights. Either adapter will group under 3" at an estimated 30yd range. I don't think that's too bad with the generous chamber of the 12ga.
I use 250gr lead SWC with a healthy charge of Unique in the 44 Mag and 158gr lead SWC in the 357 Mag also using Unique. I estimate a velocity of around 1000fps with the 11gr charge in the 44 Mag out of the 1" rifled "barrel".
Each adapter is anodized aluminum and features a 1" section of rifling that seems to hold up well with the lead bullets.
