My wife got me a Sig Mosquito for Christmas. She bought the model with the 3.9 inch barrel. I'd like to have the longer barrel. I believe they call the Mosquito with the 4.9 inch factory barrel the "sport".

Can I buy a longer target-style barrel/slide for the Mosquito, or does the frame or whatever limit me to the factory size? If it can be changed, is the 4.9 incher the longest one available?

Respectfully, before anyone starts telling me about how picky this firearm is with ammo, or how my wife just bought me a piece of junk that won't cycle, please know that my wife bought it for me and that it will therefore be with me forever -- even if I have to shoot expensive ammo through it.

Thanks in advance for any help!

You should be able to. They have the weight at the end of it, and your frame shouldn't be that big of a deal. I would call Sig and see what they say. Its the same frame for all of the guns.

+1 on calling Sig. The owners manual contains the instructions for converting between regular and sport model. I've looked and never found the kit for sale retail or online so contacting Sig is the best bet. BTW, your wife made a fine choice. The Mosquito was designed to be a tactical trainer and it is an excellent performer in that role. Just break it in with 500-1000 rounds of CCI Mini-mags and then you'll be able to run the Walmart Federal bulk stuff with minimal failures. Keep it clean and well lubed and it will be very reliable.
