Hello,

I have a Crossbreed holster for a Glock 19, Supertuck, that I wore for several years (since 2014). Last year I sold the Glock and bought an M&P 9c 2.0. I also bought a new Crossbreed. After a year I still cannot stand the new holster - it seems to have much stiffer and thicker leather than my old floppy G19 one, even accounting for break in period. I’ve hated wearing the new gun in this holster every day of ownership, and this is affecting my willingness to EDC. The first month I had it it would leave a bruise and welt on my leg where the stiff leather was jamming directly into my thigh, finally I cut it down shorter, and now the stiff leather and barrel somehow find new leg hairs to pinch and yank out constantly. In my G19 holster, my first carry gun, I never had any of these problems.

I recently was able to re-acquire my original g19 holster after it exchanged hands with the gun among people I know.

Am I able to undo the rivets holding my MP9c and g19 shells onto their respective leathers and reinstall on one of the leather backings somehow?

When I looked at Crossbreed, their shells were riveted into the backing. Which is one of the main reasons I don't use them as a holster company. It isn't going to be easy to replace the shell. The rivets will have to be drilled out. I highly recommend using a drill press to make sure you drill straight through the rivet, and not deviate. Which may damage the shell or backing.

The company I personally use, attaches their kydex shells with Chicago screws. That you can take out easily with a flat head screwdriver when you change guns. But keep the same, comfortable leather backing you have broken in. Tony and his team have always done great work for me. I have been impressed with these holsters for years.

Thank you for your reply. Maybe I will contact crossbreed to see if they would do an exchange of the two backings with one another for a fee, or drill it out myself and reinstall with Chicago screws.

My crossbreed holster was stolen from my mailbox (along with several other packages over a 2 week period). I am certainly not blaming the vendor for this. I am, however, fairly screwed. I had that holster since 2014, the new CBs are so stiff that after one year of wear I basically never carry now (whereas I carried daily for 7 years starting on day 1 of the original). And now I don’t have my soft leather anymore because of a rotten thief.

who can recommend a crossbreed super tuck competition that is guaranteed to have soft pliable leather and sells a shell for MP 9 compact 2.0?

My recommendation is White Hat holsters. They are who I went with when I did not like Crossbreed. One of WH big selling points is you can buy the shells separate and switch between whatever firearm you are carrying. The downside is they are on a new order hiatus right now to fill backordered holsters. They are not a stocking holster company. Everything they make is one at a time.
