Hey guys, I was offered a deal ($300 including an ultralux 6x42 scope) on a 308 Charles Daly field grade rifle. As I am just beginning to get into bolt action rifles, I was wondering if the mauser action on these rifles was a decent choice for my first. Also, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with shooting them and might be able to tell me how accurate they are. I'm having a lot of trouble finding any decent reviews online about these rifles. Thanks so much, guys.

I have one in .30-06 and love it. Great gun at a great price. More accurate than my Remington 700 BDL in 7mm.

So, all in all, it sounds like the .308 Daly would probably be a pretty decent choice for a beginner looking for an accurate rifle at a good price? Thanks for all the info guys.

Yup. Good all-around rifle in a good all-around chambering.

I love the two I have, one is a 270 WIN the other 375 H&H. Both shoot better than I can.

i want a bolt gun in 308 for my son but dont wanna break the bank.

We'll a Savage, Stevens, Even a Mossberg ATR would get you into that range and they are excellent values. I've even seen the inexpensive Rem 700 at Wally World for around $350.
