Howdy, New here. I have a customer who wants a new gunrig and wants to trade a Charles Daly mauser in .308 with a Millett 4x16x56 scope and a Harris bi-pod for a gunrig I would sell normally for $350.
Is this a good deal? I have been looking for a good inexpensive rifle that will reach out to 200+ yards. CharlesDaly308.gif

The rifle is now sold by EAA subsidiary USSG as the USSG/Zastava Z98. They're in the low to mid $400s new online. The scope is in the mid $200s new. I know nothing about the accuracy of the Z98 rifles, but hopefully the price info helps.

I have the zastava mini mauser. with the right ammo it's a sub moa gun. blueing is excellent. From what I could tell when researching zastava, their mauser action are pretty good.

I bought one of the close-out Remington/Zastava mausers - a .243. These were model 798's in Rem-nomenclature if my memory serves. Nice rifle. Bet you'll be happy with the one above.

I've got the same gun in 30-06. It's a great rifle and worth the money, in my humble opinion. It's a no frills Mauser action, well built with what seems to be a fairly rigid barrel. It doesn't string shots as it heats up. It can produce quarter sized groups off a bench.

My only criticism of it is that the magazine will only feed four rounds. The fifth round binds up as it pushes out of the magazine. It's like the feed lips were ground for a shorter cartridge, like an eight millimeter or something. As a kick around hunting gun, it's very solid.

This sounds like a fair deal to me.
