I've got a Charles Daly 870 clone with the short barrel, actually a friend gave it to me about 4 or 5 years ago about 2 weeks after he bought it new.

But I just have to tell the story behind this SG, it's really funny, but also kind of sad too, IMO. This young man and my Son had just returned from deployment to Afghanistan, and the first thing they both did, and I mean like the very next morning, is they went out and bought a bunch some guns, handguns, rifles, shotguns, and AR's. After about two weeks pf shooting and hunting with our family, he was supposed to go home to his parent house, to spend a couple weeks with them. So the day before he left, he gave away all the guns he had just bought to several friends, me was one of them. Anyway, I couldn't help but ask why he was doing such a thing after having spent a pretty penny for all them, his response was that his parents don't want him owning any guns, cause they're just too dangerous. My Son and I offered to keep them for him until he came back, but he insisted his parents would be very upset if they found out he owned any firearms. I can't help but wonder what he told them when he deployed to a war zone, I'm taking a long vacation with the military? I truly wonder if he even told them he was deploying at all?

Anyway, are they pretty good for what they are. I have shot it quiet a bit, and although it doesn't have the typical slick action of an 870, it has been every bit as reliable as my 870's, even with stout 2-3/4" and 3" magnums, so I know it's basically OK, I just wonder if they are cut from the same cloth.
