Charles Daly Wants to Hear From You!

I would like to say one thing, although I have neither fired nor held any CD arms... A new website is BADLY needed. The Product link on the left is OK, although everything seems discontinued, but the Products link on top takes you to a completely unintuitive search for what kind of gun you are looking for? As if Charles Daly makes one model of everything ever. Very awkward. Don't ask what we want and do your best to impress us, show us what you do plain and simple and let us decide for ourselves.

Michael,

I would not do a dedicated 9x23, just try and make a caliber tollerant .38 Super. Witnesses for example are known for being easy to convert between all the various .38 Super/9x23 rimless cartridges without much work--perhaps an extractor change but often not even that. This is helpful to competition shooters who want to run some sort of 9mm Major cartridge, but want options as to which flavor.

I am sure the 10mm would sell better. I feel there is a strong "cult" following of 10mm in particular, evidenced by the success of Dan Wesson's 10mm offerings, Kimber bringing out pistols in the caliber, and rumors even are that the Delta Elite may be coming back as limited edition pistol. I have been told that EAA has no trouble selling its 10mm offerings. I suspect a quality polymer framed 1911 in that caliber would sell quite well, and the existing 40 magazines should feed it given (if Para derived) they were developed for the 10mm originally. My 10mm converted Para LTD does fine from its mags. Doing a search of the various gun forums will reveal many, many threads about 10mm. It has been undergoing a sort of Renaissance that I believe owes itself largely to the online community. The Web serves as a venue for information on obscure subjects that previously could only be found in print with some effort. Here online fans of the 10mm have found one another, and been able to promote renewed interest in a cartridge that gun writers burried in paper publications years ago.

Dear Charles Daly,
I own a RIA 1911 that has been an absolute pleasure since day 1. I bought it used at a gunshow & because of that I never got a user manual or a box W/it. I wonder if it would be possible to get those items or at least the manual? It would certainly be appreciated.
Thanks,
Treo

Treo, you may want to contact RIA instead of asking the head of Charles Daly. Charles Daly and RIA are different companies. Yes, the gun is the same base gun, but that is because they import them from the same manufacturer. However, they are different companies and the guns are built for them with different features. So, asking him is kind of like asking the head of Kimber for a Springfield Armory manual - even if he wants to, he can't really help you.

1911 A1 commander

I purchased a Charles Daly 1911 A1 commander in october 2001. I had a serious problem with stovepiping. To rectify this problem I stripped the gun down and then disassembled the frame. What I found was a sliver of metal caught up with a pin in a hole causing the slide to drag while cycling. Once removed it cycled fine. The second issue the gun has always had is the slide lock will not hold the slide after cycling the last round. It also will not hold the slide back after inserting the magazine. The third issue ive had is that one of the nuts holding the grip on is stripped out making it impossible to change grips. Will Charles Daly fix these issues as well? What is the number to call for your service department?

Thanks

Baikal

I have three of your Baikal shotguns. One O/U and two S/S. One of the S/S is converted with the 45-70 tubes. Love all three. Good gun for the money, only it's hard to find CD products here where I live. I had to special order all of them including the 45-70 tubes, so an updated website would be a big help.
Baton Rouge LA area.

trent2: Are you sure your Baikal guns were imported by our company? The reason I ask is that we imported Baikal under the KBI banner in 1993-94. We never sold any tube inserts when we had the line. If they are our guns they will have the KBI name and address engraved on the barrels.

After we stopped importing Baikal, the line was picked up by EAA, and now they go under the Remingotn ISP label.

Hello Mr. Kassnaz
I own a Charles Daly O.U. and this is all the info. I find on it:

Charles Daly 20 ga. 3"
Miroku Firearms Mfg. Co.
Kochi Japan
S G Miroku
# 208315

It was new when I bought it but I don't remember what year that was. It has been the best shotgun I have ever owned and I've owned a bunch of them.

Probably 20 years ago, or so, I sawed the stock off a couple of inches for my petite wife to be able to shoot it and she has shot the hell out of it without ever a problem with it.

OK, 1. Are you able to tell me the manuf. date? and maybe a little History about it

2. The Model?

3. The most implortant question I have is: Where can I buy a new stock? ( Both Pieces ) I can't believe I just took a saw and sawed it off. Young and Dumb HUH ?

If you can help me I would be too grateful.

Thanks in advance, Charlie

Mister Kassnar (calling you Mr. out of respect, sir, it's how I was raised), I know Charles Daly does wonderful things with the Armscor produced 1911s made in the Phillipines. One thing I've wondered is if you ever thought to bring the Armscor-produced Detective Special (the M206) or their longer barreled Official Police lookalikes.

As a Colt revolver fan, that would be VERY interesting to see back on our shores.

BTW - I love the EMS - perfect iteration of the Commander for a southpaw. *bows Wayne and Garth-style*

Sir,

I have been lurking here for a good while and have finally registered specifically to post on this thread.

I have not personally had any bad experiences with your weapons, but have always written them off as bargain basement items, with rumors of terrible customer support. After seeing this conscious effort to turn your image around I will now be recommending all budget and newer shooters to your company.

I do own one CD 1911 and I have had no problems, and truthfully like it better than my friends Kimber (he never believes me). I will be attending ShotShow this year and will be adding some of your new items to my mental shopping list.

Thank you again.

I have dealt with CD costumer service just one time. I called about my FEG PJK-9HP. The lady I talked to was VERY helpful and really very nice. SHe helped me to resolve the problem and I don't think it even cost anything. Thank You.
Now, bring back the HP. It was a great idea.

I have a FEG P9R with a chipped barrel lug. Is there any way to get a replacement barrel? Sorry for asking again if you answered this question for someone else somewhere in the 9 pages or so I didn't read.

CD

Mike, this is a smart business move. You will definitely get the low down on your products, so you can keep up with what the public wants. You could start a CD forum too. I have a .45 Springer SS loaded Champ, bought it because of the warranty. I did shoot a CD at the range one day, and it was accurate. Most of the negatives I've heard about your handguns have to do with feeding problems. Throat and ramp them, and they'll feed golf balls. Respect is earned and this is a great way to do that. Visit any time.

Charles Daly, My FEG PJK-9HP has the grip screw on the right side drilled too high. I can't use wooden grips because you have to shave too much off the top of them to make them fit right. I really don't like the rubber wrap around grips offered by Hogue and Pachmyar. Whats the chance I can get a pair of the rubber grips you offer on the HPs? I am currently using the stock wooden grips and I have sanded them down to a reasonable thickness and refinished them but it is a bit of a slippery surface.

garyL: Was your FEG P9R imported by KBI? All of our FEG pistols had letter prefixes, like PJK, MBK, GKK, PMK, etc. Having said that, I think the P9R may be the same gun as the MBK but I'm not sure. This would go back to the late 80's, early 90's. I will check this when we return from SHOT. We may still have some parts for them.

jon in wv: Most of the staff of Charles Daly, including our head gunsmith, are in Las Vegas at the SHOT Show. Please allow us a few extra days to get back to you on this. We will all be back in the office on Thursday and will get an answer for you ASAP.

Thats right. I forgot about the Shot Show. I hope it goes well. I have been waiting for the show to see what new stuff is unveiled. Do you have anything new to show?

I am not sure if anyone else mentioned it but I would be interested in PLAIN SLIDE 1911's- I HATE the giant bill board on the side of the slide... UGLY

A normal small and tasteful brand marking would help sell them ...

3" EFS or EFC ?

I bought a 3" EFS or EFC, can't recall which one because I never get it out, about a year and a half ago. I have never been satisfied with this pistol. I can't get through a whole mag without failier to feed, FTRTB, stove pipes, etc, etc, etc! I purchased this pistol to be my main carry piece, Yea Right!!! I fooled with it for a couple weeks trying to get it to run, no luck, i.e. different mags, strip and clean. The barrel lockup is terrible and will wobble unless you put your thumb on the back of the slide and push, the slide and the barrel do not mate up when the pistol is in battery, the diameter of the bull barrel muzzle is to small for the slide which prohibits solid lockup. :fire: When I saw how the bull barrel was too small for the slide, I gave up! Nothing I could do was going to solve this problem! I needed another pistol that was machined properly. I emailed CD and was told they would be in-touch with me concerning the pistol. I waited and waited and heard nothing. I emailed again and got blown off again. So, my 400$ CD sits in my safe, I don't even want the pistol!!!!! I feel I wasted my money and time!!!!! Please make me say good things about CD. :banghead:

Mike, Thanks for the response. It was purchased in the early '90s. If I remember right, the import stamp is CAI, or something like that. KBI was the importer shortly after I got it, but at the time I was looking for parts I had trouble getting much information. That would have been about 10 years ago.

GOV: Please PM me your full name and address, along with your serial number. We will issue a FedEx Call Tag (as soon as we return from SHOT) and get your gun running and back to you as soon as possible. We will make this right. You have my word on that! (Also, if you kept copies of the email where we "blew you off" please copy on them.)

A note to all who have relied on email in the past to contact us and did not receive a reply, please call us toll free at 866-DalyGun. Email is not a guaranteed method of reaching us.

After a talk with Mike Via PM, I ordered a CD 20ga Auto-Loader last night. Thanks for the tips Mike and I will let you know how I like it.
