Charles Daly Wants to Hear From You!

I had one Charles Daly 1911 compact for a few years and it was great. In fact it was what I used to get my CCL. Wish I had never sold it.

busted1200, thank you for posting your experience with our Customer Service, and I honestly mean that. Although it brings to light the terrible way you were treated, it brought to my attention something that I would never have known about.

You were treated terribly. No matter what happened with your bolt you should have been contacted immediately and a follow-up contact should have been made when your gun was sitting in our service department for months with no resolution.

I apologize for the way you were treated. This morning we had a meeting with our Customer Service manager and he was informed (again) that his attitude was unacceptable. He has been instructed to modify his behavior and was told to treat our consumers with the utmost respect.

I can assure you that we have taken your post quite seriously and have taken steps to insure that this sort of thing will not happen again.

Again, thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Sincerely,

Mr. Kassnar,

I know your busy, especially in these times, and it shows a lot about your passion for your company by taking the time to monitor these forums and respond. More executives should follow your lead, they probably could learn alot about their company.

I received the rifle back today and everything appears ok.

Mr. Kassner;

Earlier on this thread I'd contacted you concerning the number of left hand bolt .223 mini-Mauser firearms your firm had imported from Zastava. Subsequently, I sent a letter to you addressed to: KBI/Charles Daly, Attn: Mr. Kassner, P.O. Box 6625, Harrisburg PA, 17112-0625. The letter was dated June 10 of this year and mailed either that day or the next.

The letter requested documentation, ie a letter of provenance, regarding the number of LHB mini-Mauser's you told me had been imported. In the letter, I offered to pay Charles Daly for the service if you'd supply the requested documentation. As of today, I have had no reply of any nature from your company.

Would you care to comment?

Love the thread and the personal attention from Mr. Kassner so have to necro this thread by saying that a CD 1911 and Semi 12g are in my future after having looked at them for years and now reading all 578 posts in this thread to-date!

Now that KBI has taken over importation of the Jericho pistols it appears they are trying to increase the model's public profile. On Friday's season opener of "Smallville" one of the characters had one and they even said "9mm Jericho 941" in the dialogue. I'm sure KBI paid for the plug. In previous seasons most of pistols shown were Beretta 92FS.

About time something other than a Glock, S&W or Desert Eagle gets some screen time!

Falco 410 over/under shot gun

Hi, I am new to this and don't know if I am doing this right. I hope so as I have a gun that I would truly love to use but can't because it is broken. Anyway, I have a very nice Falco 410 over/under shot gun that I inherited about 8 years ago. It was imported by Kassnar Imports. I found this thread by serching for Kassnar Imports and finally feel there may be a light at the end of the tunnel. If Mr kassnar of Charles Daly is checking these posts I am hoping he can help as I believe his father was the imported of my gun.

When I got the gun it looked like new but was very stiff and hard to break open for loading. I fired about 15 rounds and when I went to eject the last two empties the ejector would not work. I had to work the casings out with a knife tip. Since then the gun has locked tight and will not even break open. I have had the gun looked at by several gun smiths and they say there is nothing they can do to fix it as they do not know where to get parts. Does anyone know anything about the Falco and if parts are available somewhere?

Any info about the gun will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dick

dick white, we do have some parts for the Falco guns. Please wait until Monday (our main service man is off this week) and call us (toll free) at 866-DalySvc, 8:30AM to 4:30PM, eastern time. Hopefully we will be able to take care of you.

Falco 410 over/under shot gun

Mr. Kassnar, Thank you for your very prompt reply. To say I am impressed would be an understatement! Very few companies, let alone the president of the company, would even take the time to reply to a request such as mine. I will call service on Monday as you suggested. I will also put Charles Daly at the top of my list when I shop for my next gun. Thank you very much! Dick

Is there a rifled slug barrel for the VR-MC autoloader in the future?

I bought the 20 ga youth model for my rather petite daughter who would like to go deer hunting in the not too distant future and this would be just the ticket for our shotgun-only hunting grounds.

If such a barrel were available I, for one, would certainly buy one.

Hello Mr. Kassnar

I have been trying to look up any info I can on a Kassnar Zabala shotguns side by side. All I know about this gun is what is on the top of the barrels as follows.

Expressly made for Kassnar Imports
Harrisburg, PA

12 Gauge 3" Magnum Shells - M&F

By Zabala Hnos S.R.C. - Elbar
Made in Spain

SN. 110038

Have been trying to find out how old this gun is and where I can get a firing pin for it and how to put one in. Any help would be more than I have now.

Mr. Kassnar,

This a great thread, it speaks well of any company to make this sort of sustained customer outreach.

I'm one of those who had previously avoided your company's products due to some of the concerns you've been addressing. After reading (part of) this thread, I regret my earlier position and will in the future consider your offerings. I certainly regret the substantial (relative to my budget) amount of money I could have saved had I selected your products compared to some of your competitors.

Your efforts here have earned your products their deserved consideration.

Thanks.

I remember a CD OU double (Italian mfg IIRC) a friend had years ago. beautiful piece and a quail getting son of a gun. (pun intended)

Drifting a bit off topic, but for customer service I have never seen the equal of Dillon reloading equipment. Lifetime warranty, secondhand or not, no matter the problem, they just fix it with free shpg, period. I have an old Dillon 450 reloading press bought back in early 1980s. Got a bit western with it one day and broke a part, called them up and explained upfront the fault was mine. The customer service service guy said he didn't ask me as to fault or why and shipped the part out same day.

Charles Daly is now out of business.

It is a shame to see a company with new leadership reaching out to the community only to go under shortly after.

Farewell Charles Daly.
Sorry things did not work out Michael Kassnar.

Yes it was quite a bummer to hear that CD was going out of business, especially after such great effort by Michael Kassnar.

Charles Daly is no more.

To all our friends, fans, supporters and consumers of Charles Daly and by extension, KBI products, I regret to inform you that the rumors of our demise are true.

KBI is going out of business and closing its doors, effective today, January 29, 2010.

I don't want to go into each and every detail as to why this has occurred, except to say that there have been a multitude of events over the past five years that have contributed to our current situation.

For those of you with ongoing service requirements please be advised that we are currently negotiating with several companies that will be performing after-sale service of Charles Daly, CD Defense and Jericho firearms. As soon as we have finalized a contract with one of these companies we will post the name, address and contact details of that company on The Charles Daly Forums - Powered by vBulletin, so you will know who to contact to obtain service on your KBI firearm.

Again, I wish to thank all of you that have supported our company, Charles Daly and all the other fine firearms that we have sold over the years.. This spells the end of KBI but I imagine it will certainly not mean the end of Charles Daly® and CD Defense™. Look for this excellent brand to resurface in the very near future.

Sincerely,
Michael B. Kassnar, President
K.B.I., Inc.

I think everyone knew they were done some time ago which would explain why this thread has been dormant since New Year...

Trap-league shooter. For a deal too good to pass up I bought a beautiful brand-new-old-inventory high-grade 34" Charles Daly shotgun by Miroku (who make Browning BT-99's for example) for my full-of-poop brother-in-law who was in the market for a nice break-action. He heard Charles Daly and said he didn't want it but was gonna continue to look around, sight and price unseen. When he eventually saw it, understood it was a bargain, and that it had become my main trap gun he denied he said he didn't want it and stopped talking to me. Those could've been a new feature and benefit of their nice guns that might have kept them in business -- jealous a-hole family-members stop talking to you! My fancy 34" single-barrel is the mate to the 30" Charles Daly O/U that I use for doubles trap.

These are peculiarly nice guns for Daly, and it was good Mr. Kassnar visited, but obviously it was a day late and a dollar short so don't be TOO impressed folks -- Mr. Kassnar, not a name synonomous in the industry for great things, was clearly desparate (if it was even him posting).

Regards;

Al
