Wrote an excellent review of the Percussion P&R book. We are very appreciative off al the reviews people here and elsewhere posted On amazon and believe they have greatly assisted the circulation. Mr. Gadda went a bit farther than most, pointing out changes and improvements that might be beneficial in a subsequent book on the subject. I hope that anybody considering buying this book will read that review as It provides an accurate picture of the product.
Fact of the matter, another volume is well beyond the concept stages (but still way off in the future.) It will be an expansion of the revolver material in the first book covering more guns and loads. Mr. Gadda expressed hope that it might extend to some of the current innovations. While our main interest is for the historic guns and replicas, the enthusiasm for the modern developments is infectious and we hope to have a good section on gunsmithed Old armies and the products of BigIron.
The next book will have fewer pictures but they will be larger with more readable imbedded text and hopefully more adapted to the available technology and limitations imposed by the publisher. Most of the pictures will be a full page while others will extend to at least the width of the page. The total package is limited by our willingness to spend money. These things are driven by interest and enthusiasm rather than any hope for even recouping expenses. The nature of our presentation is such that no industry publishing house is going to want to pick it up- there is too much veritas in the vino and some of the stuff we include would tend to retard sales of certain items rather than advance them. So, the people we deal with on the publishing end are more used to putting out such things as books of poetry gushing on about daffodils and suchlike. semi-techinical subjects are like sanscrit to their editors and proof readers. They fecundate them up rather badly. We are left to our on devices for these services.
The current book has minimal mention of elements of the black powder industry and we will probably not change this. The main reason is that many factors change almost one day to the next and we don't want to end up with any more obsolescent information than necessary
Anyway, the book has been out for one year come July 20. We have had considerable fun with it and have not gone into hock in the process.
