I've never seen a Charter Arms 22 or any of the "new" CA's for that matter. I do have one of the old CA 38 snubbies, and it's a darn good gun. Probably better than the Taurus' I've had in the past. Maybe about the same, since all the Taurus' I've had worked fine too.
It's not a Smith & Wesson, Colt, or Ruger. I suspect you know that already. Having said that, if I was in the market for one, I'd look it over and if it seemed well built to me, I think I'd take a chance on one. If it didn't work, I'd sell it, trade it, keep it...and move on to something else.
