Been shooting my new Bulldog for the last few weeks trying to find the right handload that has the balance of accuracy and recoil. During this process the factory wood grips have been tearing up my hand due to sharp edges. So I went on the hunt for a set of comfortable grips. I went on the Charter Arms website and found that they had two versions of rubber grips on sale for $14.95 each plus shipping. I bought both to try. The first rubber grip in the photo is hand filling and covers the back strap, it’s an improvement over the wood. It feels OK but is hard and other than being smooth does not absorb much recoil. The last grip is soft rubber akin to a Hogue grip, does not cover the back strap. This grip was the best fit for my hand and not only the smallest of the three it was the most recoil absorbing. It also provided me with the best groups with my new Bulldog load. I settled on 6.5 Grains of Unique over a 245 grain SWC 429421. I managed comfortable, point of aim groups just over 2” at 10 yards. This is a DAO gun so I was pleased. I was able to shoot a full box with zero discomfort. So if anyone is looking for a nice compact carry grip for the Bulldog you cannot beat $14.95.
