Both KeepAndBearArms.com and the NRA are running the same story ...
If you're a Chase Manhattan Bank USA customer, you may want to reconsider and take your business elsewhere.

Dan Whinery of Dan's Guns And Ammo in Warren, IN recently applied for a Chase Business Credit Card and was turned down for the following reason and this is a direct quote from the letter the bank sent him:

We are prohibited from extending credit to businesses operating in your industry.

With about 80 million gun owners in America, we should be able to show this bank that they're making a big mistake discriminating against lawful, federally licensed firearms businesses. They're not comfortable with you exercising your Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Their attack against the dealers and the industry is ultimately aimed at you, the American gun owner.
... Hope this isn't a repeat.

Thank you for the information, eh?

As I recall, I've received credit card offers from that bank. If I receive more, I'll send the forms back in the pre-paid envelope, along with an explanation that I don't ever do business with anti-Second Amendment bigots.

Great! I am in the process of getting a mortgage approved through them. You can bet that I won't give them any more business.

I'm curious as to the date this happened. I remember something very close to this in the last year or so. After a major stink was raised by pro-gun folks the bank in question backpedalled on their original statement and decided that it was a "clerical error". Go figure.

Just sent back a Credit Card offer with a big NO ! ! ! written accross the face of it in red magic marker.

Then written on it: "I cannot conduct business with any organization that is as much of a Socialist Front as CM Bank. Any group that in any way influences, attempts to influence, or infringes upon the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution is unworthy of my business, and shall only receive my scorn and contempt.

Chase bank is lacking in the area of customer service, not just relating to RKBA. One Christmas Grandma gave me a check for a gift. It was written on a Chase bank, so I thought I would just drop by their branch and cash it. They would not cash it unless I had an account there, even though it was their check, written from their bank. They wouldn't even cash their own check.
Their excuse was that they could not make any money from cashing a check for someone who didn't have an account with them. I let them know that other banks do not have such an unfriendly policy and that I would be doing business elsewhere.

I choose to avoid Chase Bank completely.

And yes, we can make a difference!

As Paul Harvey says....here's the rest of the story....

Clarification about Chase Manhattan Policy

Chase Manhattan bank has responded to NRA regarding the denial of credit service to a gun shop owner in Indiana with the following statement:

All of our decisions are based on Chase's policies, including our credit policies and applicable legal requirements. We do not believe that it is appropriate to deny credit to properly licensed companies that otherwise qualify for credit. We are currently working to incorporate that clarification into our policies. In short, Chase Manhattan Bank does not have a policy that prohibits us from offering our products and services to federally licensed firearms dealers.
A company spokesman told NRA that they have contacted Mr. Whinery and resolved the issue to his satisfaction. Chase has also informed NRA that they are reviewing the process that led to the letter of denial that was sent to Mr. Whinery to ensure that such misunderstandings do not happen in the future.

NRA is pleased that Chase Manhattan has acted so quickly to rectify this situation.
