Finishing up sighting in a Burris 536 prism sight. These are great fun for ringing steel but challenging to get good groups with cheap ammo off the bench. The cross hair /dot is coarse but the optics are clear and it was a good day for shooting.

I put up silhouette target with and orange dot and went to work. I put the first five rounds down and should have stopped. The second five rounds I must have been mashing the trigger trying to time the wind as I spread my shots wider.

My solution was to use my smaller dots on a white backer and try to lollipop the on the dot... and breathe. Took four tries but I almost got a 100 yard 1 inch 5 shot group out of my Noveske/Model One build.

That rifle will shoot 2 bullets through the same hole if you let it. I should think about putting a more powerful precise scope on it someday, might make a decent varmint rifle.

All shots 100 yards, PMC X-Tac 55gr FMJ.

It's a pros/cons things Art. I have other scoped rifles I use for varminting that aren't designed to roll around in the dirt bang against barricades and shoot through loopholes.

'Hits on steel' is definitely not the same as placing a heart shot on a deer.

I'm still impressed with the accuracy of my green rifle. ;)

I've been tinkering with the reloads for a while. Three powders and five bullet weights. All fun...some much better than others! But...thats part of the chase.

My best results have been with Hornady 55gr V-Max and H-335. Trying to spread my supplies I often shoot a "mini group" of three shots.I've managed several at .75" and one day there were three shots in .5". This is shooting from the bench at 100 yds. Rifle is a Model1Sales 20", 1:9 twist with a Bushnell1.5-4.5 scope. It just frustrates me that my group always opens when I shoot five rounds! :banghead: Makes those three round groups look ...so good!:D

I'll have to say, I've had more fun this past year or two shooting my reloads and trying to find that "special load" that out shines all the rest of my efforts.

Guess I need to make myself shoot five shot groups to really prove my loads to myself.

It would be interesting to know if on the 4 target pic above if the targets were shot in TR, TL, BL and then BR order.

Bottom right, I made a slight adjustment in elevation.

Bottom left, top left, top right and I called it a day.
