Cheap 223 at walmart

Hi all. I went to walmart today to pick up some ammo for my mini-14 and I noticed that they had American Eagle 55grn FMJ for 4.47 a box. It was the same price at the beginning of the year when I bought the rifle. Last time they had some I cleaned them out and when they restocked it was still the same price so hopefully it will stay like that for a while. I dont know if it is just my store that is elling it for that price but you may want to check your local walmart.

I don't get it. How do you all have these Walmarts that actually carry good deals on ammo?

All the walmarts around here have overpriced boxes of Remington UMC as their cheapest .223, and it's more expensive than buying by the case as Outdoor World.

I've never seen a Walmart carry anything by American Eagle.

Must be a regional thing.

It HAS to be a regional thing. I've never been able to find decent prices on ammo at Wal-mart for plinking ammo.

Like JW said, its gotta be a regional thing. I've never seen American Eagle .223 at any local Walmarts at all, much less for that price.

When I was at Wallyworld yesterday, the cheapest .223 they had was Remington 45 gr HP, for $11.

Lately I've been buying alot of Ultramax 55 gr SP, in 50-round boxes, for $23 at Cabelas.

I've never seen American Eagle brand ammo at the Wal-Mart's here in Texas. I was buying the Remington 55 gr. FMJ when it was $6.47 a box. Alas, it is no more.

The best deal I can find now is the Monarch(Prvi Partisan/Serbian) at Academy for $7.57/FMJ and $7.87/PSP.

Cheapest I have seen at Williamsport, PA comes in just slightly over $6.00 a box.

In my AO, the cheap .223 FMJ that Wal-Mart has is Remington for $8.83/box of 20.

Damn there are some cheap prices out there, yet. around here(Oregon) the cheapest I have seen is UMC for $12/box of 20. Should go ask 'em if they can order the cheaper stuff, I'd buy a case

Well I looked around and the walmart 15 minutes away doesnt even carry that type of 223, maybe its just my store that has it. I just felt you should know in case any other stores had it for that price.

Around here, the only brands of ammo Walmarts have are Remington and Winchester white box.

Dicks is currently selling Remington UMC for $8 per box of 20 and the 50 round box is $20.

My closest Wal-Mart has no guns, very little cartridge ammo, not much selection of shotgun ammo. I've never seen any of this white box ammo in any of the Kansas City area Wal-Marts I've been in.

I got a bulk pack 200 rnds of Federal "American Eagle" 223 for $57 LC brass and all just a couple months ago here in Phoenix Area.

jpwilly, that box is now going for over $70 at Wal*Mart. Prices just went up the last couple weeks. I also noticed the Federal .22LR stuff is now over $11 a box of 550. :\
