i know cheap and .308 diameter bullets don't go together these days but i've been trying to get some 308 bullets for a 300 blackout build. Mostly for plinking. I prefer either 115 or 125 gr and the most rounds for the money. I'm currently loading 125 gr nosler bt which is about $20-22 per 50 rounds. i can justify paying more for the nosler because i won't be shooting those much...

Cheapest I've round are Hornady (either v or a max) for about $22-24 per 100. the nosler are for hunting but these will be for plinking. I noticed xtreme has 150 gr .308 plated bullets but that's a bit heavy for my liking and don't know if it will work for higher velocities.

bullet design i don't really care, prefer something with a metal jacket. if anything i might just pick me up a box of a max and try some... could use that for hunting too.

500 x hornady 110 gr fmj @ $75 = .15 a round, not bad...

oh man looking at the pix those 110 gr are round nose. not sure if that's a deal breaker but i think these are more for the 30 carbine...

Cheap and bullets don't go together at all anymore.
110 grain bullets are definitely .30 carbine bullets. There is 110 grain Blackout data on Hodgdon's site though. Tested bullet is a V-Max, but that doesn't matter. I'd use IMR4227, but only because it works so well in .30 Carbine with either an FMJ or HP. Suspect the HP would do well in the Blackout too.

Look at plated and or cast loads. Missouri bullet company has 250g lead for $40 for 250, not extremely cheaper, and its hi tech coated lead so you would need to develop a load for it, but its a thought

I'm happy with the Speer TNT 125gr. I think I got them from Midsouth but I wouldn't swear to that.

They actually group a little better from my 1:8 than the 125gr SMKs. Roughly 14¢ cheaper too.

Been getting into the MBC 235gr lead bullets for subs. MUCH less expensive than 220 gr SMKs or 208 gr AMax. I get a failure to feed on the very last round of a magazine sometimes with them & am experimenting with COAL as I suspect that's the culprit as anything else has fed just fine from an unmodified Lancer AWS magazine for me.

Here is another alternative. www.wideners.com They keep military bullets, blims and pulled projectiles. Look in reloading components under mil-spec
