I own a Mossberg 500 combo that is blued-n-wood and I am seeking ideas to 'camo' the shotgun for turkey season with the following needs...

1) inexpensive
2) doesn't ruin the finish (sentimental value due to passing of my dad...he was going to use the field barrel for bird blasting & I was going to use the rifled barrel for deer hunting -- sabot slug)
3) doesn't block the bead sights on the rib of the field barrel
4) doesn't interfere with the functioning of the weapon (loading, firing, pump action to unload empty shell and feed a new one)

anyone got a good idea? much thanks

These kits are good, although they are a bit grainy; they look like the comics page enlarged. From five feet away you and the turkeys will never notice the difference though.

Hunter's Specialties used to have a shotgun kit that had excellent resolution. They dropped it for reasons unknown, but you can still find them sometimes on eBay.

I have used the sock type, as well as cammo tape, as well as both in combination.
Walmart sells it in the sporting goods depeartment cheap.

Both do the job very well, and come off easily with no residue on the gun after the turkey season.

But with that said.
My hunting pard uses a Benelli Montefeltro shiny blue & walnut, with silver receiver & gold inlays. No cammo on it at all.

I use a Browning A5 with cammo tape & netting sock.

We both kill our turkeys every year with just about the same boring assurance our guns will not spook them.

When you have a turkey coming to the call & decoys, the gun should already be pointed at him well before he gets there.
So all he is seeing is the muzzle end of the gun, and any movements you make with it.

It's not like you have to hold it up and show him both sides of the shiny receiver and stock.

thank you for the recommendations; still weighing options...I like the concept of the BearTooth slip-on covers, but I would like to cover the receiver and back part of barrel (maybe some HS Strut NoMar vinyl camo tape to fill in those areas)

for others who are following this thread...a salesperson at a local shop recommended this product sold by Cabela's:

it's called 'Snake Skin' and appears to be a 'shrink wrap' type of covering; I was really interested, but some of the reviews have me on the fence...seems that the user will have to be very patient and steady with scissors and a hair dryer
