So what would you folks say is a "good" price for 30-round AR magazines? I ordered three from Midway recently for $10 a pop, which is cheaper than $30 per magazine at the local Gander mountain.

I was tempted to buy more but I thought I'd first ask, is $10/mag a good price? Did I get ripped off? Can they be had for less? Or is that about as good as it get?

Lastly, are ARs as sensitive to cheap magazines as 1911s? My Colt seems to turn into a fully-jammomatic with anything other than Wilson mags, so thats all I use, but can I probably get away with el-cheapo mags on my Bushmaster or are ARs equally finicky?

it's an excellent price if you got the ones that included the magpul followers.
depending on the mag, $10-$30 are all reasonable prices.

Well a lot depends

The price of a mag is not always indicative of its quality.

Some AR’s are mag sensitive, and some are not. I had two bushmasters a while ago, and one would shoot rain or shine with any POS that I could shove in the mag well. The other one for some reason never ran well with Bushmaster mags… yea go figure, but never had a one single issue with my beat up old Adventure Line mags. I don’t know why, but that rifle was picky. I now have a dpms that works well with any mag that has “Kansas” stamped on the bottom. Weird, but true.
