Are there any? Best I get is about 2.90 per 5 or about .60$ apiece. Somewhere out there is a Wal-Mart type deal like the 100rd packs of #7 Federals for 14 bucks right? I'd love to find a way to get my per slug cost in the .20 cent range, then I could blast a bunch more. Foster types only, I'm runnig them in a short 870 for practical/combat shotgunning. I'm currently mostly using the cheap birdshot for loading practice, but would like to use more slugs as this tells me how I'm doing with re-aquiring the sights. I usually start with 6 on the sidesaddle and one in the gun and blast away as fast as possible, single, double, or loading the whole tube at once as the mood strikes me. Can't really replicate with snapcaps as the recoil response is part of cycling the gun really fast.

I buy clearances, I got some 1 oz 12ga slugs a couple weeks back for $1.90 per 5, and a 15 pack of 20 gauges for $6. I buy a few here and there to build stock.

Never seen them as cheap as you want, you could cast your own and load them easily under 20 cents each.

Dicks' the aptly named Sporting Goods chain, had KO Brennekes on sale for $1.97 a 5 pack 2 years back. They turned out to be the slug of choice for both of my slug shooters so I stocked up. Deals like that do come along sometimes.

Meanwhile, keep an eye on CTD, etc. They advertise specials and usually have some kind of slug on sale every few months.

Also, try your local outlets and ask if there's any discount on case buys. I picked up a couple cases of Winchester 00 one time at about 50% of what buying them piecemeal would have run.

HTH....

Other than Dicks and the KO slugs for cheap, Wall World here has stocked the 15 packs of Winchester slugs for five dollars and change.

The Gander Mountain store near me [Mentor, OH] has some of the PMC brand 2-3/4" 1Oz rifled slugs for $2.47 per 10. Only slugs I have ever seen packaged in boxes of 10.

So I now have 150 slugs in my ammo box for about $37 and tax...

Plus, they shoot good in my Maverick 88. Your Mileage Will Vary.

Great info. Al, Every time I see the Slugger value packs at Wally world I dive on them like a live grenade.

I guess I need to look into the PMC slugs, someone other than Gander mountain must sell them, that's cheap.

The last thing I ever want to do is reload for a shotgun. Ever. Slippery slope thingy.

Extreme accuracy is not important right now, I get small quanities and dink around at 50 and 100yds for that, this is just 25 yd and closer fast practice. The indoor range is a lot less picky about what target you use when shooting slugs. All shooting 7.5 shot out of an 18" IC 870 at 25 yds tells me is that I absolutely cannot miss a steel plate at that range, a truth that has held up thus far. A regular cloud of evenly dispersed shot about 2 feet wide or better. I am quite handy at missing a 7 yd plate with buckshot, don't ask me how, did it twice in a row. Stupid front sight.

My Walmart was blowing out slugs at the end of deer season in my area for $2/sleeve of 5 earlier this year. I picked up 6 sleeves, a good amount, considering I never shoot slugs.
