Hey everyone, I'm wondering what the cheapest 1911 on the market is? I have a very tight budget all the time but would really like a 1911 for the range. Would like to get some Punisher grips for it too, seeing as how I'm a huge Punisher fan, anyone know where I can still find The Punisher 1911 grips as well? Thanks.

You can buy a Rock Island 1911 for just under $400 mew or buy a used Springfield 1911-A1 for $400. I would buy the Springfield (and did) because it's a much better pistol.

If you go with a Rock Island, get the Tactical model. It comes with several upgrades that would drive the price of the Government up into the range of another class of 1911.

hmm now im not sure if i want the GI style or the tactical, i mean The Punisher used the GI style for most the comics but in the latest movie he used what appeared to be two Kimber 1911A1s (that will definitely not be cheap) with compensators.

Best bet would be to Google some variation of "Punisher" and the word "Grips" or "1911".
To be honest you'd be better off with the Houge rubber grips with the finger grooves. Nice look and very comfortable.
I once passed up a Rock Island Armory 1911 with a 10+1 capacity for under $400.
But thought cause of it's price it was a piece of crap. If I knew then what I know now I would have jumped on it.
Now locally I haven't see any in a year or two. And to be honest(once again locally) in truth I've never seen a used quality 1911. Only Llama and from what I've heard there not to spec with all the other 1911's clones out there.

i say get a sa 1911, even if used they are backed by a lifetime warranty, and sa will take care of you if the need arises.

Used SA's are floating around pretty cheap. With the warranty they are hard to beat. Gun selling one at gun show yesterday for $300. + 2 mags and case. Another guy reached him ahead of me.
I see the RIA can be had new cheaper, but the ones I have seen and shot did not really impress me.

I bought one of the Springfield Armory GI models a few years back for under 400 bucks................I have only shot it maybe 50 times, so don't have any reviews for you...............

I'd be surprised if that Firestorm is still available. I believe those are the old Llama guns, relabeled. It's possible they have changed suppliers to one of the Hungarian or Phillipine manufacturers.
You can buy the late Llama 1911s for $200-$250, used of course. They are decent guns for the money, but the grips (and plunger tube and extractor) differ from the 1911 standard so would not fit the OPs needs. I have a Max-1 and like it.
Centerfire Systems is advertising some 1911s under the RIA price point if I recall correctly, though I do not see them on their website. They were either Phillipine or Hungarian. They would be true clones.
Charles Daly is one that you might find a deal on. They are assembled in the US from Hungarian (FEG) parts. Excellent blued finish over polished steel. I have a CD HighPower clone and I am very impressed with it for $300. If their 1911 is that good I'd not hesitate to buy one.

I have a Rock Island 1911 tactical model and love it. The company that imports the Rock Island Armory pistols has excellent customer service. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. There is nothing wrong with getting a SA 19911 either. I looked at both the Springfield GI and the Rock Island Tactical.

Rock Island is a pretty good value... Had this one for about 4 years and after a couple of thousand rounds it has never failed ...

these are proberly one of the better looking punisher grips i have seen. i have no idea what the quality is like. but at the price they dont look too bad.

I have been looking in to getting a basic , solid 1911, the Rock Island & Springfield GI get good reviews here. Customer service is said to be excelent from Rock Island, Springfield has a life time waranty. The word seems to be for basic you go with the RIA GI or Spring field GI , If you want to modify go with the Springfield Mil Spec. for a little more cash & more features. There is alot of info. here on the search function. Good Luck.

I read a lot before deciding on which to get. When they work, both are apparently completely serviceable. The big difference is that the SA seems to be more likely to work properly out of the box. For the slightly better quality and the greater reliability, I figured the SA was worth the extra. Both are good choices, though, and worth their price.

Cabelas carries High Standard 1911's for under $400. In that price range, you should be able to get a Rock Island or Armscor also.
I got my Springfield GI model in stainless for $479 at Cabelas. The black/parkerized version was slightly less.
