Greetings,

Is it still the pulled 147 gr from Hi-tech ammo the cheapest for 30-06 plinking bullets?

Thank you

Personally, I wait for a batch of 2nd or blem Nosler Custom Competition bullets to come along. I have paid anywhere's from $.14 to $.18 cents for them. The price they want for the pulled bullets is more than they are worth. I've still got a bunch that I paid $.05 each for.

Greetings,

Indeed 110$ + shipping that is a little bit overpriced is not very cheap.
Where do you check for those blemished nosler? I would certainly use them for 3 shots-in-one-hole like I do with my 23 cents Hornady...:)

Thank you

You can cast bullets yourself cheaper than that, but probably can't buy cast or jacketed bullets cheaper than $110/K.

+1 to nosler 168s from midway. They sell 100, 250, and sometime 500 count boxes for deep discounts. Probably bought and shot 1000 of these bullets and never had a problem, they are extremely accurate. The only bullets that shoot better out of my gun are bergers and they are extremely pricey for a tiny increase in accuracy.

Kestak, to answer your question, I have several sources for these bullets but they are all basically the same price so yes those are the cheapest. I've probably loaded 15,000 rounds of 7.62 with these bullets for my 1919 Browning, and they have all functioned well. I wouldn't win any matches with them, but as the saying goes, "accuracy through volume!"

The 146 fmj bullets shoot ok but not very accurate. The m2 30 caliber bullets are better. Cast bullets 200 gr. gas check lee sized 308 works good too and is accurate, however the cost of the gas check makes it more expensive. I totally agree with the blemished bullets. What is your time worth reloading is another factor. check wideners also for bulk bullets.
Midway has sales and if you buy enough free shipping.

I bought the 108 gr US Military pulled frangible (M160) bullet from High-tech. I shoot them in 30-06 with 9.5 grs of Unique, Win LR primer. Sub 2" (5 shot groups) at 50 yds with open sights. Cheep, 8-9 cents per round total - great for 100 yd practice & off-hand. No kick, very quiet - the bad thing is wifey and the kids plow through them like 22's.

I do the same thing...shooters pro shop, check everyday cuz it can change quick

Try Pat's Reloading in Ohio. They have 30 cal military pulled bullets for $95 per M plus shipping. These may be resized Russian mild steel core bullets and you would need to call and check to see if they are. Others are sold as pull down projectiles from various military sources. :)

They may not be Russian but they do show military surplus 147 gr. FMJBT on their website. Often, they do not keep their web site current so you have to call and find out if they still have the item you want. Last week they were still showing LC 30-06 brass for sale and they were out. Now, they have taken it off the web site.

Once I started having problems finding those, I just switched to cast for plinking in the .308. It was cheaper and I never run out of the cast.

Remember you get what you pay for.
I got 1000 M2 and 788 M80 pulled bullets and My groups are worse at 50 yards than at 100 yards with Hornady 150 gr FMJBT which are by no means match bullets
