Blaser R93 Duo it has been done for an Arabian prince, I don't know if it will be produced...

nfl1990, I'm one of the only people I know who shoots a .50 BMG standing up, but believe me, I do it as a gag, you can't swing a Barrett .50 fast enough to actually hit an animal. And if you can, you are a better man than I am! :D

I watched a guy write out a check for $70,000 on an impulse buy of a speed boat once. I'm figuring that this gun is for people of that income bracket. More power to them. Wouldn't mind being in that bracket myself someday.

ALRIGHT!!! Let's pay $50,000 and wait an additional 2 years (or even more) in line!!

Gun or car..?? Gun or car...??

better yet.

Gun or 1/4 of house??

If you need that much power why don't you just buy a Barret autoloading .50, it would be far less expensive, more powerful, and follow-up shots would be faster as well. And if you really had to take something down fast you could incindeary rounds, (which I have never seen in .375H&H)

You obviously misunderstand the purpose and appeal of the double rifle. The preferred rifle for Arfican dangerous game has always been the double, sometimes in outrageously big calibers like the .700 Nitro Express. The reason is that the double rifle offers the fastest and most reliable second shot. You don't need to cycle an action, either by hand (bolt action, lever action, etc.) or automatically (like your suggested Barrett autoloader). If the first round misfires, or you fail to put your quarry down with it, you have the second round on its way instantaneously with almost absolute certainty. There is no chance of a failure to extract, or a failure to feed, or any other sort of action-related failure, because there is no need to extract or feed anything.

This rifle simply takes the advantages of the double rifle and attempts to add the ability to take more than two shots without a manual reload. I don't think it's a particularly good idea, but I do understand what they're trying to accomplish.

Its a neat looking rifle and all, but it just doesn't seem like it is all the efficient a concept, and I just can't see where it would be in any way superior to the tradtional double rifle, especially at a price of 50-freaking-grand. I don't care if I won the lotto, hit the jackpot in Vegas and found out my rich uncle died and left it all to me on the same day, I will eat my hat before I spend 50 grand on a rifle.

I understand the idea behind the reliability and speed of the double rifles, but c'mon now folks, bolt actions have been around a long time.
Even larger cal semi-autos have been around quite a while.

I think modern technology has guaranteed us a rifle that goes bang twice within a reasonably short period of time.

This thing seems to serve very little practical purpose.
Why not just carry a lever action 45-70? Nearly as quick as the double rifle and carries more ammo should you miss with that vitally important second shot.

If one were to price out a Holland and Holland double, the price on this bolt action double would look pretty reasonable. If I had $50K burning a hole in my pocket (which I don't) I'd buy a H&H double long before I'd buy one of these- its a pretty solid investment.

True, but then you're not the target market for this rifle. This rifle is made for people who own homes on four continents, a multimillion dollar megayacht with a full time crew, and dozens of exotic cars. In other words, it's a rifle for people who are having a hard time figuring out how to spend all their money, and so want things that are truly rare, unusual and expensive. It's an expensive trophy for their friends to ooh and aah over. It's not practical in any sense of the word.

I, too, would never buy one, even if I was a multimillionaire. I'd spend my money instead on buying land -- lots of it.

People make some things just because they can. ;)

I for one am glad they do. You never know what somebody is going to come up with. I probably wouldn't buy one of those but you never know what kind of idea such research may inspire in somebody else's head. John Browning came up with gas operation after watching muzzle blast move grass. ;)

Who wants an ambidextrous 6+2 375H&H?

I ran across the Blaser R93 Duo on gunbroker and hadn't seen it on THR. A quick search later and this came up. Just thought some people would like to see it again, with a bit of new information.

Let me know if I've got this straight, the gun in the auction comes with one double barrel in 375 H&H, and another double barrel in 30-06. It also comes with two scopes, each worth about three grand (as per Midway), and instead of a two year wait, this'll be delivered in about three months.
What a bargain!
